But isn't that ridiculous? Less than 24 hours notice for places closing in their hundreds every day. They need notice to book people back in and make sure they're all set and ready.

I messaged my brow place today (4 cancelled and counting lol) and said I can go at 9am Saturday if they're allowed. My brows are so light they're fading away 🤣

I think (hope) we'll come out of it next Wednesday. Nicola said yesterday that numbers are dropping and she wasn't sure if it would be extended, although I think we all expected it. By next week it'll have been two weeks which is obviously the 14 day isolation period, so fingers crossed we'll see restaurants and cafes opened for sit in at least, and maybe tougher sanctions on pubs that flout rules.

Closing all hospitality down seemed massively unfair on the sector (and the majority of the public), given it stemmed in the main from pubs.
The initial ‘case’ we heard about in the pub was 26th July so we’re over 14 days now and the majority of positive cases are young 25-29 and either mild symptoms or none so I’m confident hospitalisations won’t go up. They keep saying no one from the cluster has gone to hospital. Can’t help thinking it’s odd that this is happening in Aberdeen when you know similar pub scenarios must be happening in Glasgow for example, with a far greater population, larger deprived areas and more BAME communities ..... Also when testing a great number of asymptomatic people the risk of a false positive is much higher.

I’m confused....
Beauty salons have been open since early July here, are they still closed in the U.K.?

fact is ICU and hospital numbers aren’t going up, not in a way we should be worried about,
we’re acting like we’re in a pandemic but...... are we?

It’s really poor form to leave any announcement until the day before. If it’s a positive announcement these businesses will have minimal hours to arrange bookings, bring in staff, make 100% sure they are good to go. If it’s not good news (again) then it’s going to leave a lot of business owners with the worry of how they are going to get through the NEXT few weeks without any money coming in.

People could have been infected and walking around between the 26th and when the lockdown was implemented so I was meaning that if people have been sticking to the lockdown rules then two weeks would completely minimise any risk of community transmission and there would be no valid reason to extend it again. Whether they feel they need a valid reason or not is another matter.

It's certainly procedures that aren't allowed yet.

Unless you're a male in a barbers. Then beard trims are ok. I've also seen many, many barbers advertising with photos of men having facials, face waxes, steaming treatments to the face with nobody wearing PPE (so not the barbers etc). Nothing been said about that though up the top!

Sorry the way women are still at the bottom of the pecking order for anything in 2020 causes me rage 🤣

I’m hoping with the c 900 contacts traced they’ve surely got most of them isolating already. Also there’s a lot of discussion that asymptomatic people aren’t as infectious. Add in the false positives who also won’t be infectious at all .... I just hope positive tests fall and we get out of this ... I just worry that they’re testing loads with barely any symptoms and with teachers now able to get tested with no symptoms if they fear they’re likely to be infected then positive cases will remain high ....

Some good news, Macdonald's are bring back more menu items....:m:m

Views on this please.

My Romanian neighbour refuses to wear a face mask - no health problems, she actually believes Covid is a lie.

I didn’t quite know what else to say so swiftly changed the conversation but.... thoughts? 💭
My first thought is how odd it is that you needed to start the post stating that she is Romanian...

We've had 220 cases this week when are usual number was only 21 they've closed some care homes to visitors again as a precaution as hospital admissions are rising and they've said that's a red flag ..All pupils regardless of age have to wear face coverings on school transport, teachers have to wear face coverings in the staff room and at any meetings lasting longer than 15 mins ,any school visitors have to wear a face covering also ..

Would a barber trim my brows? 💈 getting desperate here 😬😂
I've considered a drive to Wales to get mine done 🤣🤣🤣 and that's about 4/5 hours. Women spend much more on beauty. Hence it rakes in 28 bil. Think 1 in 60 people are employed in that industry aswell. It makes no flipping sense!

Sorry, wasn’t aware that was wrong. We have many cultures in the estate I live in. They are all lovely families from different backgrounds.

Thanks - I’m trying to keep up with where everyone is from when they say how things differ for them! It’s interesting the different takes in different places when I feel like England is a complete shambles with no real leadership!

Every region is taking a different view it's really confusing seeing how things are being handled elsewhere ,they're telling us they're worried here yet other places are worse off but things are still open and running ..

I know it’s so confusing! It’s like when they say you’re in a local lockdown now but hey you can still go to the pub/restaurant/cafe/shop etc. Either the situation is bad enough for an actual lockdown to be imposed or it’s not!! It’s no wonder that people are just doing their own thing now when the people at the top don’t seem to be able to make their minds up!!
