I heard
1) no time to dispense them 2) not enough available,
plus it makes it hard for them to communicate with each other in a scuffle.

no idea how true it is, but look how they left the NHS without PPE 🤷‍♀️

I’m flabbergasted. Government advice is to wear face coverings where social distancing isn’t possible? How irresponsible but unsurprising. Feel for anyone who is expected to go and do their job without the reality of being able to refuse x

I got a phone call yesterday from my hair salon to book me in for an appointment as they are planning on opening on 4th July, Government permitting. I’m all booked in for a cut and highlights on 5th July. Wahey!

I persuaded my boyfriend to take me to McDonalds today. I live in the West Midlands. When we got there, the wait time was an hour and a half so we left. 😂 We went to the supermarket instead and I went inside, even though I shouldn’t have done because I am shielding, for ten minutes. I think that I needed to try and do something normal because the idea terrified me as I had been in the house for too long. I conquered a fear today and if I do end up with symptoms, then it will be my own fault. I did wear a mask the whole time.

I’m so frustrated looking at Instagram right now ... so many non-London based celebs at the protests, Tamara Eccleston on holiday and so many parties!! What is going on!
Maybe remove the app from your phone if it is frustrating you so much? I often do that, lol.

As an NHS worker I’m absolutely terrified looking at the footage of the protests in the UK today. I don’t want to diminish the cause of what they are protesting, but it is so so dangerous to be gathering in tens of thousands right now and no amount of flimsy facecoverings or latex gloves will offset that. That second peak is going to be a bad one at this rate. People seem to have very short memories. There must be another way to advance the BLM cause without causing more needless deaths from COVID.

Sadly I don't think there is. I don't think they'd be doing this if there was.

I was watching the news last night and saw that the police KILLED another BLACK man at a protest. https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/01/us/louisville-protests-man-shot-dead/index.html
In NYC, the police pushed a 75 yr old man to the ground and he split his head open and is in ICU.

There was also an interview with a police officer (?) in Minneapolis who encouraged excessive force and when Obama put a law against that being taught, he offered to train officers personally outside of work. It is awful. He was on the news this week.

It is bleeping disgusting what is happening, these protests need to go on.

Random question....can I buy pet fish at the garden centre or peta at home in England? Have promised the kids some goldfish 🤦‍♀️
I just checked online and our local garden centre has an aquatic department which has now opened. It looks like they are selling fish. I think the social distancing is very strict and they are asking you not to take children.

The old man being attacked is a horrible video to watch. He was just walking towards them. Senseless violence for the sake of it.

The two police officers that did it were suspended and something like 30 others protested the decision to suspend them even though they could have killed that poor man. They are no better than a gang at this point.

Also everyone I know is talking about getting McDonald’s and tbh lockdown has made me realise how rubbish they are! Don’t miss them at all!

(Until I am hammered on a night out obviously 😂)

yep!
And it doesn't take away from the fact it shouldn't have happened - but the fact that these events have been caught on camera will only help the cause too as nobody can deny the issue. The video footage of that man being pushed to the ground is absolutely shocking. He was not being abusive or aggressive AT ALL. So sad to watch.
A lot of people in america (and apparently the police too) are so protective of their Second Amendment but forget that the First Amendment gives them the right to protest.

I think the police don't care if it is filmed as they think they can get away with it. I am sure they get a thrill from doing it.

I've learnt my lesson and I'm staying put.

We went abroad at the beginning of March, before any travel restrictions were put in place and lockdown was announced. The country that we were travelling to had no confirmed cases of coronavirus at the time.

Towards the end of our holiday, the country we were in suddenly announced an extreme lockdown - which included closing down all airports and suspending all flights. Ended up stuck abroad for 6 weeks in rather extreme lockdown measures (eg no outdoor exercise at all, curfew, etc). It was really scary to be stuck/stranded so far from home.

I seriously just don’t think the protests are anywhere near in the same league as having parties or meeting friends and family during the strictest part of the lockdown. Endangering people during a pandemic because you just want to socialise vs making a stand against systemic wide spread racism are two totally different things.

I agree, I do think the protests are necessary (look at the movement that happened and the results already) but I would be lying if it didn’t make me wince about the thought of covid and the transmission

We know that the virus will go eventually, racism will be here forever if people don’t make a stand

Of course it’s worrying to see the massive crowds and it isn’t an ‘ideal time’. But they have to happen now if we are to see a change.

the fact that BAME people are the ones more at risk, yet they're out there protesting, speaks volumes to me about the need for them.

Most people at the protests here are wearing masks, if they keep that up hopefully it will be ok.
