Slightly off topic to the current conversation but I had to take a neighbour to Tesco.
I’m aware I’m becoming a bit of a representative here 😐

as you walk in there are tables set out with wipes, paper towels and spray bottles to allow you to clean your own basket handle, disposable gloves are given to everyone before entering and need to be worn by everyone.....
You can’t go near the tills, they take your trolley/basket at the first line and pass it back to you at the second line.

its bleeping bizarre 😮
It feels like every few days it gets more extreme (obviously a good thing but scary all the same)
Aye, are you on commission? Loo roll as payment? :ROFLMAO: Seriously though, I appreciate knowing what to expect when I go shopping. I hope all supermarkets take this routine on board. I know Boots and other chemists have taped off certain areas and are strict about who goes where and how long for. :)

“every little helps” 🤪

the chemist is allowing only two customers at a time, door needs to be opened by staff, i like to see how different places are handling it all. 🤣😂
Being offered blue gloves just felt crazy 🤣 I thought about asking for 10 or 20 spare but...
We must not hoard 😐 even the freebies.

Sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with an illness, that is hard at any age. I totally agree with what you've said, I think a lot of young people will have a very rude awakening one way or another, whether that be because they or someone they love contracts the virus or whether because they lose their job as a result etc. I'm in my early 50s now and I was a teenager in the 80s when the HIV/AIDS crisis happened and I remember taking all the official advice very seriously, in fact the impact of the public education infomercials left me with a lasting mental health problem which took a lot of therapy to get under control. I do fear that many people will be left in the same position once this crisis is over and it will probably affect younger generations most as they don't have the life experience and coping mechanisms that evolve as we experience life.
I think this is why it isn’t so important to protect our children and support them through this.

I also have OCD and Intrusive thoughts and remember the horror those adverts brought in the 80’s.

This is why places get locked down!
We all have a responsibility to call out people being absolutely stupid. Safety over friendship, as harsh as it sounds.
I’m really disappointed in her if I’m honest! Me and my really close friend were suppose to have a play date today. Had been planned for weeks but instead we got the kids to FaceTime each other. It isn’t worth the risk! They can have plenty play dates when this is all gone!

I am 25 and I hate to say it but as a generation we are generally extremely selfish and focussed on our own instant gratification.
Unpopular opinion I don't think this generation is really all that different from all the others. I'm always rolling my eyes at boomers giving sweeping generalisations. People are often products of when they were born.

Remember the philosopher behind this

Life's about film stars and less about mothers
It's all about fast cars and cussing each other
But it doesn't matter 'cause I'm packing plastic
And that's what makes my life so bleeping fantastic
And I am a weapon of massive consumption
And it's not my fault, it's how I'm programmed to function
I'll look at the sun and I'll look in the mirror
I'm on the right track, yeah, we're on to a winner

My children are 23 and 20 and thankfully they have taken it very seriously.
They nearly lost their father 3 years ago which sadly, like you, changed their perspective on life.
They know they won’t be socialising any time soon. My youngest is home from uni for the next 6 months so he will have a lot of time on his hands. We’ve decided that we will both work on the garden together. He said it will keep him active and fit because he won’t be able to go to the gym.
They are both aware that if their father catches this it could be very serious and if their grandfather gets this it will most likely be fatal.
Unless it could seriously impact their lives, I agree with you, most younger people seem totally oblivious to the seriousness of this virus.
Stay safe x
Your son sounds absolutely lovely.

I thought the same about Germany. Their numbers look so much more positive. Are they on lock down?
Not yet... But schools closed last Friday / Monday... Libraries, museums, bars also closed this week. Even playgrounds are closed now. But they will probably announce a nationwide lockdown because people are still irresponsible (especially teenagers meeting in large groups...). No idea what we are doing differently but I think we have lots of ICU beds... And they've tested lots of people... But I think it's too early to make assumptions... Maybe in 4 weeks, we'll know more...

I wish they would just enforce a lock down. I feel like I'm going mad!
I feel bad for not doing anything but know that it's better to stay indoors, if they actually enforced a lockdown it would take away this guilty feeling I have! Feel angry at the people going outside and annoyed I can't join them even though I know I am doing it for the greater good.
Anyone else feel the same?
I think they should be enforcing some kind of lock down to. Deffianly for all leisure and entertainment services. Sorry if you work in this department but as soon as it's done the faster the country will start to recover. Alot of restaurants in my town have closed and or started doing deliveries only.
Now that schools have closed down everyone should be following this.
Pubs, clubs, restaurants, coffee shop, gyms, soft play areas, leisure, clothing stores, department stores, shopping malls (most offer online delivery if needed). If they had set this in place for the same time as schools closed I feel like this would all be over sooner.

Also alot of temp jobs have become available near me with immediate start, in food shops. So for example someone who works at a clothing store, may be able to get one of these. Their wont be enough to go around but this would hopefully help some people out.

As a family we have gone into lock down. My partner will travel to work and the supermarket, that's it. We will make the most of walking, bike riding, playing in the garden whilst it's nice weather.

My son just asked me has any children died of Covid19. 😥
He asked if Nan and Gramps are going to be OK. 😥
He asked what can we do to help 😢

We’ve had a sit down and a chat. I’ve been as honest as I can be and presented facts.

He asked why was I watching the news and I explained how the Prime Minister is updating the public everyday now and it’s important to hear what is being said.

I’m not sure if I’ve handled it correctly (don’t want to scare him) but it’s everywhere and hard to escape.

He is sad he can’t see his mates but I’ve allowed a bit more Fortnite so he gets interaction with his mates.
