OMG church minister just emailed to suggest canceling church services over Christmas! Our reply is we are adults, people should be allowed to asses their own risks and make their own discisions (and if individules want to avoid the risk we will live stream). We were in this situation last year before the 3rd lockdown when Christmas services were cancelled before lockdown. As a Christian I have been on zoom for 2 Easters and 2 penticosts and 1 Christmas already (I have been given the chance to take communion once in 21 months). I made the same answers last year and was ignored, the difference this year is most members are jabbed 2 or 3 times which we were not last Christmas. This is beyond a joke! Unless we are officially stopped we should carry on as normal.

Sorry I can’t find the posts now where I was quoted but I just wanted to say thank you to those of you offering me support. I do have a good network around me but I feel like everyone else has so much going on in their own lives I rarely speak up (story of my life). I’m single for Christmas this year which is really getting to me as last year even though we were in lockdown it felt like I finally found somewhere I belonged. He was a nasty piece of work who cheated on me with at least 4 girls it turned out but still… I’m alone again. This year has been horrific as I also had to have emergency gynae surgery as well as covid that turned into long covid, coupled with lockdown and isolation…

on another note entirely it looks like the private sector are operating as normal, ive booked tonight for breast surgery in 2 weeks time (please no judgement - years of starving myself due to mental health problems have left me this way)

Off you pop then! Wind up merchant ;)
Haha the 'wind up merchant' card is often played by certain people who can't fathom that someone may think differently than them. Especially on a 'groupthink' topic like this one.

My mum hasn't been to church since March 2020, as she doesn't feel comfortable, but her church has stayed open since I'd say May/June last year?

Lowest risk cohort by age (under 21 the risk is essentially 0%), 100% vaccinated, who cares, destroy education some more for our kids/young adults and ruin their future prospects! Insanity. A lot of universities in the US are already demanding boosters for these kids. Total nonsense.

So basically;
“You’re not dead are you?…. See, vaccines work 😐

I do feel bad for Boris,
2 young kids he actually has to live with and raise, and like, acknowledge their existence 🤷‍♀️ and a wife,
no time for a mistress this Christmas 😕

Aghhhh god I’m finding the run up to Christmas so draining this year. At least last year we actually had lockdown restrictions, this time around I’m absolutely fed up with my friends cancelling everything we had planned and basically self imposing a lockdown.. I feel so lonely and only see my other half and parents now, not even colleagues. It’s the time of year to be out socialising and doing nice things - I wouldn’t mind if people wanted to modify plans like meeting outside or going to a quiet pub or cafe, but cancelling everything? Stuck working from home now and have no plans to leave the house now before Christmas 🤦🏻‍♀️ It’s depressing AF.
Sounds simplistic to say, but could you schedule smaller things for yourself to do so you do have something before Christmas?

Covid 21?

At this point as long as it's not Ebola, I'm not going to lock myself up in my ivory tower just yet.

On a side note my current audiobook playing is World war Z.

Rambling rant incoming....

I just don't get it. All the data I've seen from SA is showing that Omicron isn't that bad. So why is Whitty saying things like "we don't know much about it, but what we do know is bad" ??
Does it matter that today has the highest number of covid cases since the pandemic began? Do we test everyone for the common cold everyday and release the numbers? No!

I'm SO tired of it all now. Sick of having the big black cloud hanging over us, not knowing what restrictions are coming, not daring to make plans etc

My dad and his partner were meant to be going to a concert tomorrow night, but omicron and the new restrictions have put my dads partner off from going so hes now lost all the money he paid for the tickets which was over £150 🙄

I'm off to York tomorrow with my mum and brother for the day, but the dark cloud is looming over so I know I won't fully enjoy the day.

Sick of it.

But thankfully I didn’t end up with any other viruses 😂 I did have to check 🤷‍♀️

I’d also like to apologise to anyone who’ve I’ve had spats with previously. It’s not in my nature at all but I’ve had so much crap going on this year it’s really had an impact on the way I’ve treated people and made me into even more of a loud mouthed opionated cow bag than usual!

getting philosophical as it’s my birthday in nine minutes and I’ve been on the champagne

I’ll post on the other thread too

is anybody else at the point where it’s causing actual anxiety everyone the sky news app pings their phone?
I spent the whole of last year and most of this year having therapy off the back of all this and I have just got to a good place mentally. But it’s definitely creeping back in now. Why can’t we all take responsibility for our own health and risk assess what we want to do and when we want to do it!?

None of it makes sense!!!! I was at a comedy gig this evening with 9000 people.
People took off masks as soon as they sat down, I am not vaccinated and had to show proof of a negative text result on my phone. (It wasn’t actually checked by anybody, I literally just flashed my phone!)

none of it makes sense anymore. Please make it stop!!

I wish GPs would go back to normal. There are so many people wanting to be seen by their GP now that a lot simply go directly to A&E and that appears to be where the problems in hospitals are. Please do correct me if I'm wrong though.

And I also think that critically ill patients should not have their appointments cancelled. Those with cancer, heart problems, knee and hip issued to name a few. People are struggling and need their treatments. Who is making the decision to put the jabs first, and how can they justify it?
All these appointments cancelled make me so mad... they're failing people.

I took a look at the number of GPs in the UK and apparently there were 52 000 in 2020.
In France there's a lack of GPs too and it's becoming a serious issue in some areas, still they are more than 100 000 for roughly the same population (67 million).
If those figures are right how could prevention ever be prioritised ? It's truly depressing.

Daddy Warbucks Boris has given the devolved nations an early Christmas present to spend on the pandemic
