Because a global pandemic doesn't work this way.
when this virus isn’t going away and it will
Keep mutating , there needs to be a new way to deal with things. They dangled freedom to people saying have vaccines and everyone having their boosters now and they still have to put up with restrictions, it’s ridiculous.

and frankly i am fed up of the government relying on us to save the nhs, we do our bit and pay taxes if they did their job properly there would be enough funds to help These situations., instead its them getting rich of this situation, and then they wonder why people question their motives for lockdowns and restrictions

Tbf I read it the same way
If you have any involvement with the elderly or the vulnerable you shouldn’t be visiting any hospitality areas
So if you work in the care sector or look after relatives then shame on you for eating out or going to the pub
Covid isn’t going anywhere. Does that mean that anyone who works for the NHS, care sector, or is a carer for a friend or relative has to live like a hermit for every winter going forward?

Oh I wish I could tell you where I worked and what's been planned by senior management! You'd be horrified!

I also have a lot of contact with care staff and people in that area, and I can tell you that they're most definitely going out. A nurse I know even sings in pubs/clubs.
A carer I know picks up bank work in a pub to make her wages up.
Two entertainers i know who work the pubs also go into sheltered accommodation to entertain there, and have done since everything reopened.
Then there's normal nights out I've seen posted all year.

These millions of people can't just not go out or work in some cases, that's asking the impossible

Well, I actually do worry about transmitting other viruses and bugs, too.
If I am ill I stay at home, I thought everyone would do that?

But Covid isn't "just the flu", it is a lot more dangerous. Not just because it can kill but also because of long Covid.
The flu doesn't have the same effect.
The flu and a cold are just as likely to kill me though?

Do you genuinely never leave your house whenever you had a cold prior to covid, until your cold cleared?

Im sorry, I just don't believe that you did.

I'm fed up of this faux innocent "I thought EVERYONE stayed home if they are unwell"

And the flu is a big killer to vulnerable and elderly people. Maybe not on the same level as covid but you dont get to just dismiss the flu now. A family member on my husbands died of pneumonia caused by flu just 3 weeks ago, I'd would absolutely love for you to come and tell that side of the family that the flu is nothing compared to covid and that it doesn't have the same effect?

No, but I would guess that everyone who works for the NHS or is a carer would know by now how to keep themselves and the people they care for safe.

Why is it always that such big words are being used? "hermit" for example.

Seriously, go to the pub, sit down at a table with your friend, keep your distance from other people there, avoid the drunk gang and if the pub is too full then go to another one or order a take away.
What has this to do with being a "hermit" ???

It is simply common sense and some of the complaints seem to be full of self-pity to me

Last year when I was living on my own in the uk , my mental health took a toll for the first 12 week of lockdown
The sights we saw to then going home to a empty flat with nobody to to hug or talk to was horrendous

so if it means if those In the care sector use the hospitality sector to see family and friends to help deal with their work stress then so be it

Nope. In my job I see a lot of death certificates. Covid doesn’t scare me. The amount of cancer deaths i am seeing at the moment scares the tit out of me!
Yet the majority of the people truly believe covid is the biggest and most deadliest killer disease out there.

Nevermind cancers not getting treating or even diagnosed, suicides and domestic violence and domestic violence ending in death all increasing, we must focus on covid and berate and scold anyone who doesnt wear a face mask or get vaccinated *

*incidentally, we are being told if we want our lives back and to be able to travel, we need to be double/triple/quadruple vaccinated because the whole protecting others story seems to have fell on deaf ears

You've really confused me. You said that if you worked in the care sector them shame on you for going out.. but now you're agreeing with me in that you should be able to go out🤯

Either way, I'm glad that you found a way to cope. This has been the hardest time for staff in care, because usually we can fix problems. Yet with this we just watched everyone decline with our hands tied.
Staff need an outlet, and if that outlet is having a meal or getting pissed at the pub then so be it, because when we go back to work we go being able to cope ourselves, which means we can help those who need it better

Noooo it was in response to that original post that you replied to as in that’s how it came across to me also

That the original post expected everyone from the care sector should be expected to just work and not socialise and that if you do then shame on you as you are working around elderly patients

The cleaning staff is on par with the brain surgeons.
🙂 okayyyyyyyyy,

but anyway,

Omicron sounds like a multi National oil company run by a CEO called Gaylord who have rocked up to the North Pole in search of oil, despite the fact bombing in that area might destroy Santa’s village and ruin Christmas for everyone.

Oh I see!

I'd guess that maybe now you're firmly with me in the CT camp then as that's where being rational gets you 😉

OMG, the flu and a cold (especially a cold!) are not "just as likely to kill (you)" as Covid.
Why would you say that??? Just use Google and you will learn that this is not true.

And Yes: if I have the flu, which happened twice in my life, I stay at home. It takes a week. I really thought that this is what was commonly done.
Yes, they are if you are already vulnerable. I'm CEV and have to take precautions every year to help prevent heavy colds and flu

This has really pissed me off. I hate masks. I hate what they stand for, the compliance, being told to cover your face in a supposedly free country. It's a disgrace.

I'm so glad you clarified as it was confusing me as well. 🤣

Out of interest , I really hope someone can answer this. I have covid and today it seems to be getting worse not better . What happens when my isolation period finishes but I still feel like crap .
Do I test ???? If its positive still I go off again right ?? I was planning on doing a LF and a PCR 2 days before I'm due back . I've got 2 days off after my isolation ends but if I'm still unwell and testing positive I still have covid right ?

Guidance is if you have covid you can’t retest for 90 days as you may repeatedly give off false positives due to residual matter
Theoretically the infectious period is over after 10 days but if you are still unwell then take longer off work as the effects off covid can last much longer than the infection period
