These mutations/variants are always everywhere by the time they're sequenced and by the time media freaks out, encouraging governments to restrict more of our rights and liberties.

They sure won't cover the fact the most intense symptoms of these people who have it are a runny nose, aches, and a headache... Sounds like a cold to me.

It’s very easy for people to say just don’t wear a mask - some of us have no choice, I will literally get fired if I don’t. So what am I supposed to do? Lose my job, income and ultimately my home? To stand up to the man? We can’t all fight the big fight without huge consequences. If you are willing to accept those, then absolute kudos to you, but please don’t look down on those who aren’t.

The call is for those who don't believe in them or don't need to wear them to not wear one. Not those who feel they should or who work in a situation where they have to wear one.

They should make a lanyard for those who are wearing them under duress

Hey don’t knock it , Been working for us hospital staff for 18 months
Every time you have to get in the fact you work in a hospital a hospital situation isn't a place where you would worry about a mask fogging up

Whenever Covid discussions come up and the slew of comments comparing the response to the Holocaust, Hitler, Gestapo, Nuremberg trials, Gobbels, etc it makes me think of this meme

Ive seen it all over my Facebook and other social media and it’s boring now. It’s not comparable and it’s insulting. It’s been almost 2 years, people can surely think of better comparisons surely 😂
Even those who remember the holocaust are saying the similarities are amazing. it didnt start with people being loaded into cattle trucks that was the end, it started where people were made out to be germ-ridden disgusting individuals and separated from their fellow man, making them shop in different places live in different places. People were encouraged to demonise these people, call the police on these people.
that's without going into book banning and fact-checkers and all the other similarities.

The trouble is where do you run when the whole world is following the same narrative. At least my family (Austrian) were able to escape to England, where do we go now? Obviously, if you cannot see it, nothing yet will make you see it, but hopefully, the seed is planted so as time goes on you will see it for yourself.

Personally sick of the dramatics around this bloody thing, and the timing of a “new variant” and a tit vaccine that worked for 3/5 working days, about as long as it takes me to reply to a text message is just so convenient,

but I will say the “it’s just a runny nose/most won’t be physically effected” argument isn’t a valid argument, it’s been explained numerous times why this virus is putting a strain on the health service (again a health service that’s never worked 😐) why it’s dangerous to let it run rampant and allow so many new variants to be created,

like the argument with masks it’s hard to be 100% on either “side” when it comes to this.

nobody knows what’s going on but I’m almost certain the answer can be found in peppa pig series 6.
I know there was a sick tortoise in that one but I can’t remember how they contained his illness so peppa, George and co could get on with their lives.
Grandad and daddy pig were clearly carrying a few extra pounds and in danger and they were fine.

let’s do something fun today like NOT attack each other 😬 the vaccine thread was already locked because of adults acting like children, no need to argue or get bitchy when you don’t agree with someone, it’s Sunday, it’s nearly Christmas, Mary was probably suffering from crippling heartburn and arse cramps at this point, still worried Joseph will find out she’s been knocked up by the milkman, so much packing to do before they load up little donkey with the rennie and hit that dusty road 😐
what a time to be alive!!

I don’t know what’s happening here 😂 it’s like the hunger games with both sides arguing and not a banana bread or Joe wicks in sight yet.

to be honest, nobody here, in my town/area/basically country at this point 😂 will follow any kind of lockdown so it make no difference unless the shut up shops and pubs again 😐
Personally didn’t follow many of the rules and won’t be doing so no matter what is decided. I don’t mind being judged for that.
I will wear a mask, if I get overwhelmed, I pull it down for a few seconds/min, doesn’t mean I’m licking the bananas,
People just need to be sensible and get back to some kind of normality or we’ll all go batshit.

There is a stark difference between wanting a lockdown and seeing that the situation is getting again worse in terms of transmissions (as predicted because of the cold season) and hospitalisations (at least where I live) and deciding to change a bit your behaviour. I prefer to see a bit less people for a few weeks and social distancing than actually having a hard lockdown. Anyway apart from the 1st wave, I haven't had any strong lockdown. I never stopped to socialise last winter - just on a smaller scale and schools didn't close where I live.

There’s a hard lockdown in Austria right now and not many people are complying at all. Which is understandable and annoying at the same time. Annoying because it will drag the lockdown out.
And they got triage there, not even that is managing to scare people to stay at home for a few weeks anymore.

So yea, not sure how effective lockdowns are at this point now. I’m not even anti-lockdown, when it’s needed. But I don’t see the point in closing everything, when people are gonna sneak off and meet people elsewhere.

Cant really see my crappy unwashed fabric mask making any difference in Tesco when I can go clubbing etc and in theory lick whoever I want (can’t think of anything worse 😂).

And some people complain that their eyelashes don't curl when they wear one???
The virus isn't going to get more deadly because people are complaining. Do you think Boris is going to read my complaint and bring in more restrictions?

I can see both sides and try to understand everyone's point of view. I understand that people are anxious about getting ill etc but I just don't understand when it stops? So we have masks now for the new variant and most people have 3 jabs. Then what, a lockdown for a new variant? Then another jab? And then there's another new strain from somewhere else so masks back on etc etc ....
Where will people who are backing the restrictions actually draw the line? Its been going on nearly 2 years now and I seem to remember at the time people saying oh its only for a few weeks!

this isn’t an attack on you, but this comment reminded me of something,

All I’m seeing on SM is this type of sass from hospital staff lately, even the cleaners seem to think they’re on par with the brain surgeons and act like everyone else is beneath them,
I’m grateful for everything the doctors and nurses do, but I think this bloody “clap for the NHS” tit gave this sector an overinflated almost bitchy/condescending attitude.
So many sectors put themselves in danger daily to serve the community, why were we not giving credit to the firefighters that actually assist ambulance crew on many many of their call outs, especially if the elderly are involved, While also doing their main job.
honestly I hated the clap on Thursday night when I lived in the uk ,i agree it shouldn’t have been aimed at nhs workers but all key workers but I used to see family and neighbours out there on a Thursday applauding people for their efforts yet the next day flaunting the restrictions

used to think you can’t really be genuinely appreciative off everyone’s efforts if you are contributing to the spread

Resorting to petty insults. Nice. Totally makes me see your point of view. I wasn't dismissing the reasons you gave I was pointing out that not everyone can give a valid reason.
People with valid reasons must be so relieved people are getting offended on their behalf.

Obviously ,I've worn masks when they've been required to know what happens when I wear one .

Spoiler: Mary was actually knocked up by the Innkeeper 😬. Let’s all have a fig roll and calm down!

For some people having their mouth covered is extremely traumatic. For some people their children are deeply distressed seeing their parents face mostly covered deeming them almost unrecognisable and quite scary when surrounded by everyone wearing masks. For some people they have sensory issues and feel incredibly distressed when fabric is touching them around their mouth.

You might not have an issue and that’s good for you, wear one. I won’t be and I’m not sorry about it.
I had someone hold a pillow over my face in my teens "as a joke" and I could not breathe and genuinely thought I was gonna die. The mask brings up those similar feelings and even reassuring myself that it's not the same, I can breathe etc it makes no difference and then I start to panic. Just isn't worth it anymore for me anyway. If anyone starts on me I'll kindly tell them to just worry about themselves and their life and not waste energy on why someone like me is exempt from wearing the flipping things lol

Did someone say fig roll? 👀
Apparently on Twitter it’s a cure for uncurly eyelashes from mask usages and eating a fig roll post vaccination boosts your chances of fighting off killer viruses 🦠
Watch all the panic buying of fig rolls now! 😬😬
I’m off to queue outside Tesco’s (other supermarkets are available!)
Stay regular

With Spain saying only fully vaccinated people are allowed in and other countries putting in restrictions,I am really worried about my grandson losing his job at the airport again. I’m so bloody fed up with it all. I don’t want to be here anymore. This isn’t living , it’s existing.
