Resorting to petty insults. Nice. Totally makes me see your point of view. I wasn't dismissing the reasons you gave I was pointing out that not everyone can give a valid reason.
You didn’t acknowledge that people have valid reasons for not wearing them. You said “ all this fuss about a bit of cloth over your mouth. Talk about first world problems! It's hardly like living under the gestapo is it? Some people don't know they're born.”

Which implies to me that you feel every reason is petty and menial as even when pointed out to you that there are many reasons people choose not to wear a mask you again resort to bringing up the single example that one person said on a forum. Hardly representative of everyone who chooses not to wear a mask.

Agreed. And some are taking it to the extreme.

For instance, I was looking at Maajid Nawaz's Twitter earlier after someone on here mentioned him and every single post is about Covid - and we're talking loads every day. I think he sees himself as some kind of freedom fighter against 'Big Brother', but he comes across as obsessive and deranged with massive delusions of grandeur. 😐
He is the type to continually end up in cults, terrorist organizations etc. He’s just too easily radicalised.

I just had a look at his twitter and one of his recent tweets was about a Danish study conducted May 2020-June 2020 on masks not being effective. Had a look at the study itself and this is listed under the ‘Limitations’:

Inconclusive results, missing data, variable adherence, patient-reported findings on home tests, no blinding, and no assessment of whether masks could decrease disease transmission from mask wearers to others.

He didn’t think to read that part before churning our nonsense.

This is not positive 😕
In fairness, nphet hear someone clear their throat in a corridor and Tony Holohan calls for lockdown. They’re sitting on their hands in excited anticipation.

my view on masks, just wear it, in the grand scheme of things it’s a slight irritation but not worth getting worked up over, they might help, they might not, but it could be worse 😑

Whenever Covid discussions come up and the slew of comments comparing the response to the Holocaust, Hitler, Gestapo, Nuremberg trials, Gobbels, etc it makes me think of this meme

Ive seen it all over my Facebook and other social media and it’s boring now. It’s not comparable and it’s insulting. It’s been almost 2 years, people can surely think of better comparisons surely 😂

Well spotted. It wouldn't be worth raising that with him though, because he doesn't seem interested in discussing things with people who disagree. He just sends them links to other articles or his past tweets.

I’ve just been scrolling through his twitter feed…😳🤯

He even tweeted about this abstract by Steven Gundry https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/circ.144.suppl_1.10712 which turns out to be nonsense (it was also shared on one of the covid threads) and has even been flagged as having an expression of concern. To also add the American Heart Association have not published it - there was an open entry for people to submit abstracts and this was one of them.

The experession of concern.

I get your point, but I don't blame some of them. I think anyone who works with the general public deserves a medal.

A year in retail was enough for me to say never again. :D
I work in retail and redeployed into covid testing for 7 months, I had the best time of my life, I was recalled back to my role in January and have had the worst 11 months of my career (I've done the job for 23 years) since we opened up after covid people have got so rude!!

I’m with you. I do 12 hour shifts in a mask so when people moan about an hour in Tesco, I really have to bite my tongue. I didn’t sign up to nursing thinking this was how my days would go but here we are.

Not all heroes wear capes ey? I’m pretty sure working as a nurse it’s somewhat reasonable to be expected to wear PPE at times in line with infection control. Expecting the public to wear them is something that no one signed up for. It’s not “normal” to wear clinical prevention measures in public places. If someone wants to wear a mask then wear it, if not good for you. People need to stop turning their nose up at others thinking they are superior because they’re so compliant 😐

Hmmmm. Review in 3 weeks time. Christmas to be cancelled again then?
This is all so tit.
Firstly, given what you've lived through in the last eighteen months, you should absolutely live your life the way that suits you and your family.

Secondly, I can't believe we are back here. It's just masks now but that came after a week of media will there/won't there headlines. It's quite clear that there could be more lockdowns.

This is clearly not a natural occurrence. I'm more convinced than ever that this stemmed from creation of a biological weapon albeit via accidental release.

Whilst Boris was wittering on about Peppa Pig, the NHS is now allowing directors from private companies to sit on their boards. Not much in the media about that though.

Petrol and food prices are through the roof and it's only going to get worse. Maybe I need to pop over to that 'other' thread but this isn't right. How long is this going to run for?

Fucks sake. This thread kept me sane in the first lockdown and thought I’d come back to see what’s being said tonight. I can’t stand the thought of another lockdown, thank duck I am now a keyworker so can still leave the house if it happens and my boys can go to school - both with ehcps but only 1 was allowed in the last lockdown - trying to homeschool two with ADHD and ASD was not an experience I ever want to repeat 🤯

I'm with you. It was so difficult. Mine don't have EHCP's yet. That said, lockdowns would solve the issue of school refusal so maybe that's a positive I'll cling to 😆

First lockdown I was actually relived I could keep my now 6 year old home because school was a complete nightmare. He became completely feral but much happier 😂Moved schools before the second lockdown and they saw how much difference they were making and said they wanted to keep him in and I cried with relief 😂 youngest is gorgeous but absolutely wild and there is no way on earth I could homeschool him, and I work in a specialist school 😂 it doesn’t even bear thinking about, our kids have missed so much already, for the little ones life hasn’t been normal for as long as they can remember.

One of mine was on the brink of exclusion prior to lockdown. He just wasn't coping. He was prescribed ADHD medicine about four weeks before lockdown so the benefits weren't really seen.
He's been refusing medication for a while now and his transition into Secondary is a disaster. It's lovely to speak to someone else who 'gets it'
