The writers deliberately fluffed up timelines to age Betsy up (in order to give Becky an excuse to come back), but at the same time they have made Lauren act much younger than she is in their rush to get the pair of them to pal up. In terms of life experience Lauren is lightyears ahead of Betsy, but the girls are acting like they are at school because the writers can't write properly for them.
