Bit of light relief for the Judge with this case....she's the teacher that murdered her boyfriend and buried him in the garden.
Must be strange working in criminal justice and having a routinely deal with people who carry out the most horrific crimes. Like Ben Myers, who defended a man who killed a child in the cubicle at a busy swimming pool and then moved on to Lucy Letby, who murdered premature babies while pretending to care for them.

Not sure if the Independent are trying to manifest the trial sitting today but they seem confident 😂

And saying it will conclude next week.

The evidence is nearly over and then it's just the summoning up. If they could just get on with it they could have a verdict quite soon.

The live coverage started two and a half hours ago , so far nothing has been reported, is that other case being heard first?
Is Prof back today ?

It’s awful, must be such a difficult job

I think of must take a certain kind of person, and the reward comes from knowing that you’ve provided a full and fair defence no matter what, so justice can be carried out.

So long as she doesn't start spouting off about the horticultural benefits of decomposing human skin and bones to the soil and how Western civilisations just don't recognise the practice.

I've always said if I was a defense barrister I'd have no qualms defending a pedalo etc. Not because I'd want to help them but if they have nobody to defend them they can't have a fair trial which means they get away with it.

Well thank god someone said this. On one of the podcasts they've quoted him as saying something like 'no-one knows more about infant death than me' and I thought well a pathologist maybe?! I'd side eye anyone who claims to be the best at X, Y or Z. That's just arrogance.
He's selling out with his testiomy. He's dedicated his life to stopping babies dying with safe sleeping and is now trying to defend CM who did the opposite of his recommendations.

I have watched plenty of the sewing bee tv programme but can barely see on a button ! News flash viewing things does not make one an expert. I looked into being an expert witness ( I’m a psychotherapist) . I’m so glad I decided against it !

Someone's pockets have to be very deep for that, surely?

Fleming's done a lemming in terms of his future career as a respected paediatrician.

What a price he's paid for agreeing to defend Connie and DB.

I really don’t understand his reasoning here, he’s not comparing the structure of a tent to a ger but the internal environment, how is it similar? When the ger is insulated with wool and a fire and a tent is made of nylon with no insulation and no fire to keep them warm ?

Honestly, if I was a juror hearing this, it would make my opinion even stronger that they are guilty.

What a ridiculous 'expert' and one that's meant to be a huge figure in safe sleeping for infants.
