I’ve been watching CC for about 2 years now, I started in 1987 now it’s Jan 1998, so worried they are going to catch up!! The only thing I
don’t like is the blatant sexism and the way the older male characters talk about young girls and women, I know it’s 20 plus years ago but to me it still feels like yesterday, I was 20
and had just given birth to my eldest child, I remember really getting into the soaps at this time as I couldn’t go out anymore!!

You may all descend on me with glittering eyes and pitchforks for saying this, but I ask-

Des Barnes. What is the point of him??

There’s a number of characters that ‘normalize’ the street. Nothing quirky or odd about them just help making the street a regular street. Then there’s larger than life characters like Fred, Jack and Vera and Alec. I feel this kind of cross section is missing from today’s Corrie

Yes that's what I like about Classic Corrie... Normal people doing normal things. No massive skeletons in the closet or huge storylines, just normal, everyday life. In MC, they do have what I would call secondary characters that are on screen a lot but never seem to have their own storylines, yet they don't seem to be rounded enough as characters to really care about them or for them to contribute to the show.

Having said that, seeing Des now makes me realise what a prick he was towards women that I don't think I picked up on watching as a child.

I find it sad that you can see how unwell the actor who plays Alf is..since he came back from a break, he is a shadow of his former self..
Ah yes, he looks very unwell in these episodes doesn’t he ☹. Lovely Alf ❤

I thought this too, he's very gaunt and has a pale/yellowish complexion in current episodes. Poor guy. Just looks so poorly.

Love how Audrey and Gail have barely changed though.

I am absolutely loving these episodes currently
Audrey and Gail have aged so well, especially Audrey she looks fabulous for her age!

Love this ❤❤😂

i dont think Angleclair from another forums classic corrie thread would be welcome here , what an absolute witch, you just want to watch CC and post , not have to suffer such vile posts aimed at other FM's , or then finding fault with their posts its just damn rude imo

(are we allowed to speak about this btw :D )

The 'other' CC Forum is normally a happy place where the FMs tease each other, and DO welcome newcomers, despite those who like to say otherwise. But AC seems to love putting the cat among the pigeons.

I really liked the hilarious storyline around this time where Alec had set up an escort agency called Golden Years and was persuading Ken and one of the dates died in the toilet!

i used to love the CC thread , but after being banned last year when one of the other idiots got everyone banned i stopped using it and DS , i'm guessing because AC is vile no one wants to chat to her one there which i dont blame them, but her bitterness wont stop her causing trouble, i notice the mods did nothing as people reported her for those baiting comments and just pointless thread bashing

It must have passed now but the storyline with Les crawling through the lofts placing items in people's houses was also funny, when poor Emily found the porno under Ken's cushions and Roy putting a tray of sand Down in Kens frontroom to catch a ghost😂

haha yes this was hilarious! Aired a few weeks back. A lot of people don’t seem to like the Battersbys but I love them, they definitely brought a breath of fresh air that was needed

The save the trees story made Toyah more likable. Her relationship with Roy, Spider and Emily is the making of her

This is one of my favourite things about Corrie, the relationships between unlikely characters ♥

Agreed, I love Les and Janice! And I'm so looking forward to the appearance of Karen McDonald, I missed most of her episodes first time around
