The last Xmas Do I attended - HR got drunk really early and had to get sent home in a taxi, my supervisor made very loud racist comments in a very quiet fancy pub (several of us visibly sunk into our seats and covered our faces) and one girl started crying...
I had already suggested I wasn't staying the whole night because I couldn't afford it and was peer pressured to stay out from the moment I arrived until I managed to escape. Never again.
Omg what?! Did they get called up on it about their conduct

Our party is this weekend in another city. Anyone who isn't within a two hour drive, is being flown in. I have a couple of people flying into my city, and we're going to drive across together (I have a full subsidised company car, so all good).

I'm really looking forward to it - it's at our country manager's "holiday house" which is nicer than most peoples' "normal houses"!

We've been promised that it's going to be fun, after a couple of very ... tricky ... months (an awful, inexperienced, manager ruffled many feathers and created a culture of paranoia. Anyhoo, they've now resigned after they were told they were being stood down due to an investigation, so ... yay!).

Previously, we've had regional get-togethers as well as an annual conference somewhere very fancy, but this year things changed as sales teams were restructured to just have Territory Managers who do everything, and a heap of other job losses throughout the business. So, this year things will be a little different, but still incredibly generous given the economic climate (everything is being paid for, we've been told just to bring ourselves).

My party is next week. I’m debating not going/ pulling a sickie. I relapsed with my ED back in March and since I keep getting loads of comments about my body. This week I was in the office and it was busier than usual - several people spoke to me about how I was looking skinny and then followed up with asking if I was okay/ eating and it just felt like tit sandwich compliments. The breaking point was getting cornered by 4 people in a meeting room talking about how I’m smaller every time they see me but I look great. It’s just really unhelpful and it made me feel like absolute tit and like I was getting dogpiled on. I spoke to my boss about it and turns out two of the partners had a meeting about me as well. I get it comes from a place of concern but I wish they’d just ask me if I was okay and leave my body out of it. I’m not ready to have an office full of people know I have an ED and it in no way affects my job performance. I actually feel pure dread at seeing even more people, my anxiety is through the roof.

I avoid them at all costs. It’s usually a bunch of people who get drunk after work anyway this time they just have a good excuse.

In the 90's I went to every work do going. It was acceptable to get drunk and have the craic. Now Christmas parties usually come with a warning about how we are representing the company. Id be afraid of making an a of myself. Plus most of my colleagues are bullies and the place is toxic.
So will avoid.

Mine didn't go ahead as expected ... several people, or their kids, have been struck down by a weird 'flu doing the rounds so we were given the option to still go, or not. A small group of us still went but we were back home by late yesterday.

Hard not to feel sorry for our boss and his wife who went to so much trouble to plan this weekend ... it was super-nice of them to divert the cancelled catering order to charity though. We ended up just having a few pizzas on arrival on Friday night, going out for breakfast on Saturday, and having a BBQ lunch on Saturday (with Secret Santa) which was actually really nice ... casual and laid back, no expectations.

Mine this year has the worst food. I’m having a Christmas dinner pizza and it’s costing me £33

I had my work Christmas party yesterday. It was fun and our meal was really good. I work in the public sector so we have to pay, but we go for lunch and then out and it's considered part of our working day. I was home around 10.30pm.

I used to hate work Christmas parties as I'm very shy, but the last few years I've been in an absolutely lovely team, most of whom love to go out. There was a large amount of alcohol consumed. I am always super careful at work events and while I do drink, I pace myself, have plenty of soft drinks, etc. I couldn't deal with the fear or embarrassment as I have such bad anxiety at the best of times, let alone after a night of heavy drinking.

My husband picked me up and we dropped my extremely drunk colleague home. She'd been sick all over herself and had been asleep in the venue for half an hour before we left. I feel so bad for her. I felt like I could have stayed out longer but this morning I'm so grateful I didn't. Nothing good can come of staying out past 10.30pm with colleagues.

My colleague dropped off our drunk boss home too. The off thing is she was shouting about how she hates it when people go out and not drink, about the colleague who doesn’t drink btw and who dropped her home, and he doesn’t drink because he’s Muslim she knows that too but because she was drunk. I felt like telling her to shut the f up tbh she’s annoying. And then she worked from home the rest of last week because she clearly was so badly hungover from it all but we still had to come in. She also then had the audacity to email my colleague when she didn’t come into the office one of the days, demanding to know why, (she had a migraine) yet she was at home
