I get my turkey on the food to order section so it is preallocated and won't be subbed.For the people who pre book supermarket swaps do you not worry about getting dodgy substitutes etc. An old school
Friend a few years back had their Christmas Day Turkey substituted for frozen tempura prawns from party food section
I get it delivered on 23rd mid morning so if there is anything missing I have time to pop to a shop.
Also helps that my mum works in a supermarket so if I'm missing anything and can't get it in my supermarket there's a good chance she can get it for me.

For us its just our normal shop( Turkey/Pigs in Blankets will come from Butchers) So subs arnt to bad also our shops 21st so anything missing can try to get in person. Before that used to be week before & then a weird Christmas Eve shop with my Dad with the most random list of forgotten items

Plus I pick up most stuff slowly before hand so I’m pretty covered…..last year I did get a turkey with expiry in 24th December
so yeh I do still worry a bit but what else can you do

Am I too early to start looking for a Christmas party outfit? I like something sparkly, but don't want to spend a fortune!
Tu at Sainsbury's have just brought out some sequinned dresses and trousers that are super-sparkly! Might be worth a look?
And it is definitely not too early! All the lovely velvet stuff seems to be coming out too ready for the festive season.
Velvet gives me the absolute wiggles I can't touch it
then sequins scratch! Not sure what the middle ground is between those for a festive outfit mind. Want something to wear for xmas party and xmas day. Will see what Vinted/ebay are producing lol
Plisse (if that's how you spell it) fabric is a nice alternative. I had a top in midnight blue with tiny gold flecks running through it for Xmas one year, I had millions of compliments. It was nice to have something different and it wasn't as clingy as satin/silkVelvet gives me the absolute wiggles I can't touch it
I got a lovely dress from Shein last year, like a glittery overlay that didn't she'd. Everyone aty party said it looked a lot more than £16!Velvet gives me the absolute wiggles I can't touch it

I always get a Waitrose christmas delivery, well I have done since covid began and I’ve never been disappointed.
I know with Sainsbury’s you can turn substitutions off. I’d be surprised if you can’t do that with all supermarkets. Would obviously still be a problem, though, as you’d just end up with nothing if they didn’t have your item. 
I used to get online shopping from Iceland and every single time I’d get an email with about five/six/seven items they didn’t have in stock. Can’t imagine how that would feel at Christmas.

Anyone else waiting for a Sainsbury's Christmas slot this morning? I've been checking since just gone midnight and getting fed up now I've got my basket loaded up although I'll probably edit it a hundred times between now and 23rd Dec..

Just click book a slot the normal way you would book a delivery and scroll through until December. I'm perplexed that no one seems to have mentioned using the freezer to relieve the pressure of having no food ready at Christmas 
I was taught by an older work colleague to cook the meat in November, portion it out into easi leave sheets (from Lakeland), and freeze in a plastic box.
Everything barring the veg and stuffing mix was frozen so all I had to do on Christmas morning was take out however many portions of meat I needed for the number of people that were definitely going to turn up that day. Defrost any other Christmas stuff. Then I could do the veg and stuffing in a leisurely fashion.
As freezers have the ability to marinate (who knew!
) the meat would be lovely and succulent. 
I think my colleague felt sorry for me after listening to years of my horror stories.
My Christmas is done and dusted in November, so I don't have to worry about things being out of stock.
As the saying goes winner winner chicken dinner.
p s. then come New Year off to the relatives for another Christmas dinner, during which I would be condescended to on the proper way to do things, whist I forced down the rubbery meat cooked that day and rubbery frozen carrots etc etc. Whilst people would whisper in my ear that my Christmas dinner had been much nicer
