She must have been reading our posts! She’s never used bag cushions until we mentioned it yesterday given the fit-to-be-thrown-away fugly black YSL puffer dustbin bag. For someone who’s into bags, she sure as hell knows jackshit about looking after them ….

She is saying that it is okay that her bags are out like that because the light does not directly hit them. I am trying my best to think you do you boo but internally I am just dying. I love bags, it is a hobby, her bags are thousands and thousands EACH. She is letting thousands and thousands $€£¥₩ worth of leather deteriorate faster in the sun.

She does not love or care for her bags. She is using them as silent friends. To gawk at and to let them gawk at her when she is in that room. She only buys and resells them. No love involved there. Just a woman with bags, who used to be a girl with barbies. She is still playing dress up.

Here is the thing about luxury items - I don't have any luxury items but I do have mid-tier brand items and some clothing items in the $300-$400 range. A lot of expensive designer goods are not practical for everyday wear. Silks and other fabrics need hand washing and it's a pain in the a$$. I hate dry cleaning smells. You wear your expensive clothes a few times and styles change, your life style changes, and your figure changes (aging, pregnancy, etc...), you move to a city with a new climate (i.e. even a different country such as Australia or Canada) and suddenly what you wore before is no longer practical or even looks good on you. For example, with Amie, she moved to Birmingham and suddenly all her bags and luxe items look weird there. Imagine if she was chasing after dogs and kids in Chanel and stilettos.

Yes, it's nice to wear nice things and if it's in your budget, you should buy nice things! I've seen people being looked down at work because they wore bad clothes and was frumpy. But there should be a limit on this - at some point, what you buy is just "stuff". What is the point of having "stuff" if you don't have chances to wear it or if it deprives you of money to spend on experiences? Right now, Amie is just accumulating stuff and I have a hard time thinking she actually is able to make the money she spends on luxury items back from youtube.

Wait, didn't she put up an IG story of Dan at Nandos? In gym shorts and t-shirt? You would wear that for Nandos but not for a nice restaurant, they definitely didn't "plan" for a nice dinner. I love a cheap eat as much as the next person, but lying about it just shows her insecurity more than anything else.

If she is reading this, I don't think she understands the criticism towards her style. There is nothing wrong with preferring the typical feminine style. I think most of us, if not all, have issues with her rampant consumerist mindset, feeding into the vicious monster that is fast fashion, and impracticality of her date fashion choices. Nobody has an issue with her owning designer bags, but it is disingenuous to be so effusive about an item that costs thousands dollars only to sell it a couple of months later. There was a poster here who bought something that Amie recommended, only for Amie to sell the exact same item a few weeks later, not to mention that many of her other viewers probably fell for it too, and for what? commissions in affiliate links rather than support and trust from people who value your thoughts and expertise who would be giving you sustained revenue if you are thoughtful about your content?

Good Lord... How has she survived on YT? She buys the same things, in the same colourways, sells then repeats the process... Don't get me wrong, I wear the same day-in, day-out in black (crisp or crepe shirts, crew neck sweaters, mens t-shirts, pull-over hoodies, and jeans), but I'm not a fashion "influencer".

Am I the only person irked by the amount of sponsored videos?

The funniest thing is that I'm sure there are nicer houses in Birmingham for the price that Amie paid for her house. This is how I know Amie isn't as smart as she pretends to be.

There are definitely nicer houses and much nicer neighbourhoods around Birmingham but (I) generally you’d get less rooms for the same price though the room dimensions would be better (ii) the houses in the nicer neighbourhoods would cost far more.

I think Amie wanted to be able to say she has 6 bedrooms because that is a lot when a typical house in the U.K. only have 4, but she failed to consider the poor layout. 6 bedrooms are only a wow thing if the rooms are spacious and don’t limit you in terms of what to do. Because of the weird shape and small size of her fashion rooms she can’t have a picture of her parading in front of a display of all of her belongings, you only ever see parts of them.

That house was a poor choice given the drawbacks that have been pointed out on this forum. I’m guessing she got tired of house-hunting - as she wanted features (Georgian or Victorian - I forget which) that weren’t available in areas she was targeting (another sign of zero research) so settled on something else which involved little to no thought/due diligence. So she’s now stuck living in a house which she tries very hard to decorate but makes little logistic sense where showing off her stuff is concerned. Posh people (given she’s so keen to be seen as such) don’t need to walk into different rooms for shoes and clothes - they just have one giant gorgeous walk in closet with beautifully made wardrobes and lighting. But Amie chose badly. She’s definitely NOT smart. She may make herself out to be as such from all her talk about investing in property etc but honey, if you cant even assess if a house layout is appropriate for you and worth its price (think of dead spaces) then you’re not smart. She recommends an online investment platform when everyone knows the actual advisers you employ to manage your portfolio would do a far better job then some algorithm developed and run by some 30 year old.

Everyone has stated it on this thread before, but Amie really is the embodiment of the microinfluencer, spending far more than she brings in to give off that luxe lifestyle while the quality of everything else in her life suffers. Like others, I only started my exploration into fashion and designer in university, but I also grew up in one of those Asian families with a bit of intergenerational wealth who survived multiple communist revolutions, so we're a bit more iffy with visible wealth. Maybe it is a result of being on social media and/or growing up rich-adjacent, but for Amie, I personally assume that she actually doesn't know much about fashion and buys the "loudest" brands, e.g. Chanel, Givenchy, LV, YSL/SL. She presents the same silhouettes, poses, styles, and shapes that are, yes, sure, timeless, but also very very very much done by others, and far better.

In conclusion, she's stale bread.

I recently discovered her insta account and I really think she should hide her feet. Generally speaking I am not fond of feet, but hers are just weird, and she always shows them when showing her shoes. Ew

Amie's clothes and handbags are so unrealistic for everyday wear. Maybe they look good on Instagram but Instagram isn't real life. I think Amie definitely has issues. I mean I love to dress up but isn't what Amie does everyday even at home exhausting? Once she went to Disneyland in Orlando and she was wearing knee high boots (albeit flat). I'm just going to say I've been to Disneyland and everyone there is wearing sneakers. Everyone. The park is crowded and there are so many people. Nobody even looks at what you're wearing or if you handbags are designer. The park is big and you need to walk for miles so realistically sneakers are the only shoes you should be wearing.

I follow another youtube guru who lives in Northern Australia. She has LVs and Balaciaga bags but she also wears Kate Spade, Coach, Rebecca Minkoff bags in various fun colors. Her clothes come from thrift stores, Target, Kmart. She always looks put together and she has 2 young kids. You never get the impression she's putting a show on for others, lives through Instagram or is uncomfortable. She dresses appropriately for the (warm) climate she lives in. She always puts her family and her house first before any handbag she buys.

Amie has become quite sneaky with her affiliate links recently! I was flipping through her Nordstrom anniversary sale video earlier and noticed she doesn’t mention the brand name in the video or description links for some of the items (the Natori feathers bra, for example). I’m guessing that’s her way of forcing people to click on the links so she earns a commission (for those of you who aren’t aware, even if you don’t buy the item right away, the cookie stays on your computer for a month so if you make that purchase at any time, Amie gets paid). I can’t stand youtubers who do this and will never click on their links going forward.

I stand corrected then. I clearly don't hang out in the same places as people who wear Chanel When I worked downtown, I'd see LV monogram totes on practically every corner, and the occasional Goyard; they're expensive, but people still feel comfortable enough to wear them on the train, for example. At nicer/trendier places, the fanciest bag I'd see was the Gucci Marmont, but even that was unusual. Once I saw someone carrying the Loewe puzzle on the train platform and it was like spotting a unicorn. But in general, folks in the Bay Area are not known for being fashion-forward; it's all about Everlane totes, minimalist bags, or backpacks.

I feel like it's more trendy to wear startupy sort of brands like Everlane in the Bay Area than actual designers.

Doesn't Amie now live in the middle of nowhere? Not sure what she's hoping to do while wearing many Chanel flaps. She really should've bought a few less Chanel flaps given she already has so many and spent that money on better furniture and upgrading her home. It looks like a pinterest board and Ikea showroom got married, without the coziness of Ikea catalogue rooms and the nicer furniture pieces of a good pinterest board.

I have only heard of having ladders for bookshelves, not for rearranging your random baskets, fake apples, or balls on different shelves. She said she hasn't brought out their books out of boxes yet. I don't know why she acts like she reads. Her previous vlogs where she tried to review books were laughable. "It's just the best book", but she never mentions WHY.

Her home has yet to show any sort of hobby she has (besides shopping) or personality. Her channel should be called 50 Shades of Beige or Pale Pink.

If you can't be aspirational, being relatable carries more weight in the YouTube world. When she started, she was relatable, as she was a young cute girl seemingly killing it at her 9-5 job and buys expensive bags as a treat for herself. Now, I can't relate to her unless I have a shopping addiction.

I definitely have a shopping problem. I definitely started it as a coping mechanism . But now that I'm out of the shitty job which caused my shopping issue I am finding it difficult to stop. And despite me also having a shopping problem I find amie incredibly un relatable. If anything she makes me very anxious and I feel the need to go get rid of stuff. At least I am aware I'm doing this and it is bad I don't think amie realizes it bc it is now her main source of income.

I laugh at how she describes an item as being in perfect condition but in the next sentence it mentions ‘….but there is a white mark at the bottom of the bag etc.’ So the item is, in reality, NOT in perfect condition. Is it really that difficult to find alternative words to describe your item more appropriately??

I just watched her Korea trip and I actually felt sad for her this time, she literally have no knowledge of her cultural background and find it all super "surprising" that I have no idea whether she is playing it up for the camera. She seems really confused about Korean BBQ, which is one of the most ubiquitous form of Korean food outside of Korea, surely there are Korean restaurants in London? She ate at the hotel buffet twice considering she seems to be there for only like a few days, which is super sad considering hotel buffets are the same everywhere.

this bothered me as well. considering how close she is to her mum (who is Korean) i was surprised how she carried on like a complete noob about how “foreign” Korean food was. Korean food is very well known in cities like London, Los Angeles, New York etc. i’m from Sydney and there’s heaps of Korean food/fusion Korean. i found her poor acting offensive (i am not Korean) because it came across as if supressing her Asian heritage was part of her narrative of “affluent influencer”. she’s as uncultured as she is bland.

She made such a big deal on not being able to pronounce "makgeolli", the Korean rice wine her mom wanted. True, not all children of immigrants can speak their mother tongue but she sounds like a literal white colonist from the 1800s who couldn't be bothered to learn one word in another language and insist on English "superiority". I am not Korean and I managed to say makgeolli the first time I heard it, not perfectly but at least intelligible. You would think at least in these day and age, people are now aware that other culture and language exist right?

I'm not here to criticize how other people spend their money and time but...considering that London is an exciting city with a lot of places and ways you can spend time and money, while Amie was there, all she did was shop it seems. Considering UK is a short plane ride to other European destinations as well, Amie lived a vapid life.

Whoever said Amie has a Pinterest shrine to Kate Middleton got it right. Amie wishes. Kate's style may be too preppy/conservative for me personally, but despite wearing the same silhouettes, she never looks boring. She wears quite a lot of color and changes up her hair now and then. Actually... have we ever seen Amie without the lego hair? Has she ever worn it up or straight or differently?
