I think she is better at what she does than most, she has her values and she sticks with them - small businesses, invesment purchasing, a particular aesthetic - I think she’s considered and careful about what she advertises and she does it properly. At root it‘s just pretty, and pretty insubstantial consumerism though. But I guess, why not.

It’s the lying around in bed I can’t get onboard with and the absolutely kip behind the scenes - did you see the state of her hotel room and all those, said expensive, investment purchases screwed up and tumbling out of her suitcase? Revolting way to treat things. My working class values are too strong not to look at that and think, well how hard have you worked for stuff you ball up and chuck about?

And not to knock it, been there and liked it, but how do you make so much of a couple of days in Bristol? Lordy me.

I think you’ve summed up exactly how I feel. I don’t generally mind her content, I actually quite like the weird ‘Victorian ghost child’ style she has and I do think that compared to many, she does stick by her aesthetic and values.

However, the absolute lack of care she shows for really expensive clothes and belongings is disgusting, and to me just screams she’s absolutely full of privilege and was probably a very spoiled child.

I used to love Charlotte's feed, it was so colourful & I liked Betty magazine but my god, she's become so woke but it all seems so disingenuous. Also, who is paying her for advice?! I don't get it! All she does is open freebies & float around in nighties!

Just my two cents: I think lockdown’s revealed that her niche is going to flowery events, fulfilling the brand’s deliverables, posting gifted ludicrously expensive stuff on stories and maybe pointed refs to her other half and kid.

Zero do’s mean it’s just ENDLESS monologues about the man outside with his leaf blower, the dog she doesn’t/maybe likes, waistcoats, #gifted, Call the Midwife, etc. She seems so old before her time.

I really like her style and was a big fan of Charlotte. But I think lots of influencers are panicking about their income now and everything is about the hard sell.
Like others have said, she rambles so much I wasn’t even sure what it was she was selling and I’m not interested in buying. That’s all she goes on about now.
She’s going to lose a lot of followers if she keeps up the hard sell. It’s not why 99.9% of her followers are following her

Do on the whole like Charlotte, but can’t believe someone who is “woke” enough to recently point out the flaws of Roald Dahl but hasn’t distanced herself or put anything out there about the Sarah A debacle. I follow a few other indie sellers that have done some of Charlotte other courses- so maybe she thinks she’s above it all as her content seems to have been praised by her customers? Also I really hope she doesn’t try and encroach on the sewing / crafting Instagram community- all for everyone having a go at whatever takes their fancy- but hate when “influencers” suddenly jump in and brands flock to them!

I think the whole privilege thing is a tricky one. I'm not sure that it should have to be acknowledged constantly. I think it depends on what you're doing.
I'm a Black British woman and I can honestly say that there are times that I feel that if I were a White British woman, my life would be a little easier... should this mean that White British women constantly have to acknowledge this? No.
For me, the only person I can speak for, what I do wish was that my work would be taken at face value, rather than the fact that I can't ever, nor do I wish to be, part of the "It" girl crowd in my industry, because my face doesn't fit. It seems to have a huge impact on my work.

I stopped following her a while ago as she was annoying me (clearly!) so forgive me, maybe she’s been super busy in that time? Has she been working the front line? Or has she been busy taking pictures of cakes and candles?
