First thing I say to my kids when we arrive at a restaurant, cafe etc is "Remember, we're not the only people here!" They finish the sentence for me now I say it so often We bring puzzle books or colouring in if we need to, and if we do succumb to phones they know they have to have the volume down because everyone else doesn't need to hear it. My kids aren't perfect by any means, but I know I can take them out in public without them being feral.
