OK so first off I'm gonna say I don't like her music, I'm a classic hip-hop obsessive so her music isn't my bag, although my youngest daughter likes her and told me about this.

I think:

1. Speaking as a domestic abuse survivor and with the knowledge that TWO WOMEN ARE KILLED IN THE UK PER WEEK BY THEIR INTIMATE PARTNER, comparing fame to an abusive husband is tone deaf at best, narcissistic at worse
2. There are thousands of really gifted artists out there who would sell a kidney to have the fame this woman has. And presumably she wanted it too otherwise why commit your music to a recording and sign to a label? If you don't want fame then don't disseminate your music, just play it for yourself or for close friends?
3. Artists like Chappell Roan get where they are due to the love and support of fans. To turn around and cancel gigs (but do the VMAs) and write ESSAYS about how fame is abusive - she's basically taking her fans' love and support, stamping on it, spitting on it and throwing it back in their faces.

really girl you have money now, have you noticed that millions of people all over the world are struggling financially, inclduing probably your own fans? Has it occurred to you that we all have aspects of our jobs we don't like but do it anyway?

So, so, so not a good look.

What exactly do these muppets want??? Idiots to stream their music (is it just old folk who buy physical copies of cds etc?) And pay big bucks to go to concert just do that they can go back to "normal lives" like flaming Hannah Montana???

Thing is, I think they'd all shrivel up and due without the attention???

Someone needs to remind this lassie about the old saying

Be nice to people on the way up cos you'll meet them again on the way down!!!

Maybe she should just embrace being rude and pushy at this point. Make that her brand. Be a ' bad bitch', and then not one can be disappointed when she acts as expected.

Even if this incident turns out to be bollocks, people will still believe it because it sounds to much like something she would do. So imo just be as rude as fuck and don't hide it anymore.
Rename herself Chappell Moan

She's just responded to the story - to me it basically sounds like "I wasn't aware of what mBuffyot my (?) security was doing and they must have just assumed you were doing something wrong when you weren't"

Which seems like a bit of a non-response to me/trying to deflect any responsibility. Security doesn't just go off the rails like this, and if they have then she needs to have a serious look at what has gone wrong
The 'apology' is a video of her in bed, not even bothering to sit up as she yaps making excuses so she clearly didn't think it was a big deal. The night before, when she performed, she brought out the victim card and said she might not tour again and made a big deal of thanking her security team among others...this says all you need to know about her.

Reminds me of Alan partridge reporting a kid for the no denim policy in his local country club. Got the kid kicked out for wearing jeans.

Is anyone here actually getting upset over this one way or the other?
...
it ain't deep.
Quite, no one is saying its a vital issue affecting the world.

It's shitty behaviour by someone near the start of their career.

If anything it's a distraction from all the life or death issues in the world, not a declaration that it's more important.

“I take full responsibility for the interactions on March 21st. I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual, and I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan,” he continued. “The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals.”

Duvier said that he “made a judgment call” based on information obtained from the hotel, events he had witnessed in the days prior and the heightened security risk of the location.

“My sole interaction with the mother was calm and with good intentions, and the outcome of the encounter is regretful,” he wrote.

/

He tells us that he was there on behalf of another individual. Not telling us who kinda lets me to believe that this is a half truth

If you make a judgement call and it ends up being a calm interaction, why is the kid crying? And if you're a bodyguard you know you can gently push aside a kid. Why go up to the mum, reprimand her and let your paycheck out of sight. That's not what you should do, what you're paid to do or something I ever saw a bodyguard do

I think they paid him off and I don't believe a word of it

Jorginho's wife has spoken - it wasn't hotel security who berated the kid, she says Chappell is responsible for them.

Chappell could have easily won on PR here - invite the kid backstage, take a picture, ta da. She failed once again.

‘Did they get you on the old jeans rule?’

I never heard of this chapel person until today - not her real name I think? Stupid name, she looks quite generic Gen Z to me, what’s her thing? Why is she famous? Is she any good at it?
The video of her denial of knowing what was going on sounds like weak damage limitation and that she was just hoist by her own big ego, never dreaming that the child’s family is more famous than her

She can't stick to her own boundaries, because she craves the fame but only wants it on her terms (ie. she gets to say and do whatever she wants, and people automatically know enough to understand exactly what she means and agree, and nobody is allowed to critique her).

You can't insist you're 'Chappell' and that people don't know you and that you don't owe them anything, while also expecting them to defend your poorly explained video about the US general elections. Especially why bailing on what you do genuinely legally owe them (your performances that you have sold them tickets for) particularly for reasons like 'I actually want to do the VMA rehearsals instead but I also don't want to be more famous' and 'In the wake of backlash against my political videos I'm suddenly too overwhelmed to do this'.

So much of the controversy around her would disappear within a week if she just got off the fucking internet. But she won't, because she desperately wants the attention.

I think part of the issue with her, is that she has been marketed as something she isn't. She was pushed as if she was some highly intelligent and political thinking character. She wasn't being rude, she was setting boundaries etc etc.

( also there was a lot of claims of her doing drag/being inspired by drag. I find it suspicious that that there doesn't seem to be any proof of her doing this pre career)

When she speaks on any particular issue, she is no more informed than the average person in the street.

She writes some good bops and is a great performer, but her image is causing massive issues and turning people against her.

She keeps kicking off at people recognising her in public, but the majority of the time she was at an event where photographers are expected or she was out and about but dressed in a very recognisable way. In one of the videos I saw, she had a ridiculous looking headscarf on like a 1950s film star wears in a convertible, so of course it drew attention to her.

When Gaga wants photos she goes about in an outrageous outfit. If she went out in jeans and with her hair in a messy bun, no one would notice her. She had even said that if people have a picture of her, it is because she wanted to be seen.

She said she's not bothered about fame, yet cancels on her fans to do the vmas. It's not a good look (babe.) She contradicts herself.

I like her music, and can understand her wanting boundaries when it comes to her fans, but i think she came across quite rude, and like a diva with that video she did addressing it.
if we ever get as far as a 'next' thread 'Its not a good look (babe)' is epic

She is a particular breed of celebrity that I have no time for. She wants the accolades, doesn't shy away from the limelight but publicly vents about her annoyances of fame. CR comes across so smug, like she's not a pop star but an artìst 🙄.

Any bodyguard would know of her 'boundaries' prior to any outing. She seems to have a dislike for children anyway, she seems to hate everything except herself.

Chappell Roan really needs to pick a lane. She’s angry all the time at the basic factors of fame; photographers shouting at you to turn is not a personal attack.

People asking you for selfies or autographs is tiresome I’m sure, but bawling out about it is whiny at best and fucking ungrateful at worst.

I like her music but she’s starting to come across as a spoiled fucking brat, which she is likely to wear as a badge of honour, but when you don’t have a solid body of respected work, and an established long lasting fan base is a fool’s move.

Nobody likes a whinger.

Remember guys to channel your inner Chappell at your work place:

1. you see someone telling your colleague to shut up or telling someone else to shut up? Get in their face babe, be a boss bitch

2. you see someone who was rude to you months ago? Get in their face babe, be a boss bitch

3. HR sends you an email informing you about something? Respond with “y’all suck for this”

Don’t take no disrespect and be constantly tired thinking about how everyone wronged you 🥰❤
