I’ve just seen the post that says she’s had a reaction... Big ouch, indeed. Apparently she used 3 products to start with and so will be able to narrow down the culprit.
The culprit is that old bag’s advice.

Turns out she whacked Hylamide on her face after using acids. Yay for irritation.

Geez, all those brand new active products. No wonder she had a reaction! And then another product on top of all that too 😬😬

I'm into skincare and in a few skincare groups on facebook and recently joined hers to see what it was all about. I have to say it seems like one of the worse skincare groups I've joined. It looks like its full of people who don't even know the basics of skincare who apply hundreds of products and then wonder why they have so many issues with their skin. I understand its a large group but it seems very disorganised compared to other large skincare groups I'm in. In many of the other groups I'm in the idea less is more and that you don't need to use loads of products is promoted but in her group it seems like the idea more is more and using one hundred and one different products on your skin is promoted.

Can you share what other groups you're in? If you don't mind? I don't want to give up on skincare, feeling so disheartened about it all and feel like I need to leave the CH cult FB group after ruining my cheeks with never before spots 😐

These are the other skincare groups I'm currently in on facebook. The skincare connection which is a general skincare group and doesn't focus on one specific topic, product or brand within skincare. Dr Sam's skincare club which focuses more on evidence based skincare. The ordinary & deciem chat room which is focused on the ordinary and other deciem brands. Tretinoin and retinoids users: tips products and routine help which is focused on the use of tretinoin and retinods. I find that these groups are better moderated and have more stringent rules than carolines group.

Completely agree with this. There was a post in the CH group the other day sharing Alanis Morissette’s 18-step nighttime skincare routine. Yes, EIGHTEEN steps. They were all over it, absolutely glorifying it.
It feels like CH promotes a celebrity skincare routine with equally priced products. For example, the De Mamiel craze that seems to be happening in the group right now. Who can reasonably and sustainability afford a £90 30ml serum every month/every other month? The £75 Chantecaille healing mask is also another big buzz in the group right now because both that and the De Mamiel were in her kit. She pushes it saying, “You really don’t need that much.” I don’t need much of my £12.99 serum either. It’s a celebrity/rich person’s skincare world. Yes, Alanis Morissette can afford an 18-step routine because she’s bleeping Alanis Morissette! You’ve got Average Joes in CH’s group getting themselves into debt for a celebrity skincare routine that is frankly unnecessary.

I watched that youtube video and of course caroline commented on it praising it and saying it was the best one done in the series so far. I don't get why people spend money they can't afford on expensive skincare. Some of the best products that are actually proven to work cost very little e.g. tretinoin. Many of these fancy expensive creams and serums don't actually do anything for your skin and your just paying for the brand name and the expensive ingredients that they contain which don't do anything.

So happy to see people finally breaking free from the CH buzz! It’s truly crazy and over the top. I’m trying to establish a decent skincare routine at the moment because of various skin issues and hair loss, I want to have nice skin if I’m going to be bald! But I’m mainly using Neutrogena/FaceTheory products and I’m only adding in one new product every 2/3 weeks so I can see how my skin reacts to something new. There’s no way I’m going to justify these high end products that CH pushes or the monthly tret subscriptions. It’s just all too over the top.
I was finding the how to videos funny... i mean in this day n age of you dont know how to wash your fave n use products in order...
Also just imagine the profits these brands make .. understand she's placing a bulk order so its definitely cheaper but still shes selling at approx 50%off n making a profit. .these products cost peanuts to produce

Anyone know what prompted this rant?
Trouble in paradise. Surely if it’s a skincare discussion forum members are allowed to give their views on brands? Even if that’s a negative opinion. Or is it only the great leader who’s allowed to ag off a brand?

Slagging off brands and products is Caroline's job, everyone!
Snap!

She’ll be annoyed if it’s brands that she works with who are getting a tongue lashing from her members. That’ll be why she’s got a cob on. But, you can’t have it all ways. No doubt she will censor all forms of brand discussion on her forum.

Disclaimer: not a chemist, product developer or come from a dynasty of SAs, did a little reading on base oils years ago, so influencer level of knowledge 😁

Had a little look at that brand and their ingredients. They seem to use a lot of different base oils and not the inexpensive ones, and if the oils are cold-pressed or CO2 extracted, high quality etc., that's not cheap. But it's not THAT expensive. Also, they seem to throw everything at once, when just a mixture of 3-4 oils will do the same thing. However, the amount of essential oils in their products is criminal. I know not everyone will react to essential oils or have a problem ever, but a lot of people will. Especially if you put them over AHAs, retinol or any active ingredients, not to mention citrus oils which are phototoxic or photosensitive. They have a "Summer Oil" with practically every citrus oil, wtf?

Kind of feel her advice doesn’t match with the brands she works with
So take my advice unless it’s a brand I’m recommending kind of thing

I missed a lot of it but someone posted Ivanka Trump’s skincare routine. People then started FB stalking and posting screenshots of the OPs personal feed calling out political views. That got deleted then some poor woman called Barbara did a new post saying let’s keep this group non political and it all went nuts again telling her to mind her white privilege. Then on another post someone from a different skincare group was using a fake profile as ‘Alan’ and sending death threats to another person they were calling out as fake in CH group. It was exhausting and I was very close to leaving the group at 5am but just muted for now.

And then she'll be pissed at a brand for some reason and their products will be tit. Until they're not, again.

She showed her House of Neon shopping delivery and because of that, their site and orders have been overwhelming because of her skin freaks group members , have I understood that correctly?

Do they want to be Caroline clones , are they that enthralled by her? , it’s very strange behaviour.

Someone posted a pic of some dogs with a comment of "Be less Political"

About 200 people then piled on her calling her names, saying she didn't speak fot them, accusing her of showing white privilege, then in sub comments everyone had a fight with each other.
It was pathetic, lots of grown adults showing off the insults they could come up with for the likes.
The original post was a bit tone deaf, but it did not deserve the vitriol she received.
