It’s amazing what a difference those ring lights make for Instagram and YouTube. That alone will make a vast improvement to anybody’s skin.

Her skin looks fine, but the cheek fillers are unfortunate. The mouth frown arcs are what's making her face look saggy and droopy, and that should have been the first thing to address when she went to the clinic. It was almost as though she didn't consult any reputable surgeon, just assumed she should fill her cheeks like all other celebrities, then jumped on the first free PR offer.

Its getting too commercial for me... she's built a reputation on her honesty.. but now its more marketing herself. .hugely expensive boxes. .some can afford... but really unnecessary. .. irony on a recent live on acids was thatvshe herself is on Tret so not using much!

The message is not clear...earlier she used to say have 2 or 3 of each product type in rotation. . Now never ever says that...
Wgat ead the rant on vaseline about ..its grim. .thats your personal opinion. . thats okay.. it makes tret ineffective. .how n why.. just said it ..n left it there. .vaseline is inert ..if topped on tret itll lock it in at best... all this half information just confuses people .n i start suspecting that if more people switch to vaseline its gonna impact sales!!

My theory about the Vaseline rant is that she’s done it to have a pop back at the dermatologist Dr Natalia Spierings. They had a minor run in a couple of weeks ago and this is Hirons payback. The doc basically advocates, as do a lot of derms, that all you need pm is your tret and some Vaseline (or aquafor, etc), presumably to act as a barrier in sensitive areas. A lot of people are suddenly talking about this as a pared down pm routine, asking questions about it and it seems to be gaining some traction - not a good money spinner for influencers like Hirons. So to me this looks like a blatant, very public, dig at the doc. Very petty and unprofessional in my opinion.

She's always had a weird vendetta against mineral oil and any products that contain it, calling it "the root of all evil" etc despite the fact that dermatologists don't seem to have any problems with it. I'm sure she had a throwaway comment on her blog about the possibility of links with cancer but that seems to have been removed

If her rant is that Vaseline is the devil then I have to agree with her. I fell for the Vaseline tip and assumed I was just purging. I’d had moderate cystic acne for 15 years so knew there would be a purge. After 3 months I went back to my dermatologist who was horrified that my skin was worse than ever. He held his head in his hands when I told him I’d been using Vaseline on top and told me to follow his actual medical advice instead of silly tricks circulating on the internet. Within a few days I had no new cysts forming and within a month the spots I already had were gone.

I could have saved myself a lot of pain if I hadn’t used Vaseline. Speaking and eating hurts when your face is covered in cystic acne.

ETA- just realised I didn’t explain that I was using Vaseline on top of tret 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yeah, what the dermatologist is recommending is only using the Vaseline or similar type barrier ointment, in certain areas on the face as an actual buffer to the tret. Not slathering your entire face in the stuff, which is what Hirons seems to be suggesting people are on about. I think she is deliberately confusing the two.

That makes way more sense. I went all the way and slathered my whole face in Vaseline because the skincare lovers of Reddit highly recommended it 😳

I’m just wondering, and I don’t wanna ask the FB group (😆) but should I be wearing SPF on my face if I’m indoors all day? I have major social anxiety & agoraphobia (especially in Covid era) so I barely leave the house... so do I wear SPF or not? 😬

I’m 29, btw. Deathly pale and don’t enjoy sunbathing, lol. So I don’t think I’m showing signs of aging? Or premature aging, IDK. But I’d like to protect my skin a bit, regardless of getting wrinkles or not.

I think spf indoors depends on your house and where you spend your time. On day two of lockdown I was engrossed work and didn’t notice the sun moving in my kitchen with a 3 metre wall of windows. My face was like a beetroot by the evening. I skip spf on gloomy days when I’m at home and not working but wear it religiously Monday to Friday now. I’m irish, deathly pale, have always burned easily and use tretinoin on top of that genetic misfortune...

I had the same question recently! It depends if you're using any acids/retinol and also how much sun you get indoors, ie. do you spend most of the day in a bright room with a south/west-facing window?
If yes to at least one of the above, I think you should be wearing SPF - especially if you're pale so presumably sensitive to the sun?

(I'm not an expert, just going off my own recent research. For reference, I'm using salicylic acid at the moment and spend most of the day in a bright room, so have been wearing my SPF 30 moisturiser.)

Yet she frequently promotes products with a ton of essential oils - they too can lead to massive reactions. I went mineral oil free for a couple of years until I realized that essential oils (yes they smell nice and I like them in a bath) triggered my eczema. The one thing that helps? Diprobase which is basically nothing but paraffin.

In fairness I think she favours plant oils (eg. sunflower, grape, etc) in place of mineral oil, not necessarily *essential* oils. I don't think her issue with mineral oil is that it's an irritant, but (she says) that it's not helpful to the skin and is just a cheap ingredient for companies to fill their products with. The Eczema Association recommends a tonne of products that contain lots of paraffin etc, so I'll go with their expertise over hers! (I avoid essential oils due to eczema as well, but I don't think she considers these things when she recommends products.)

ETA thanks for the Labmuffin link btw!

Hirons is definitely more about the overall aesthetic experience of skincare, rather than skin health, I would say. Hence her dislike for mineral oil in products and her love of fragrance in products. She seems to be unaware of the fact that just because someone may have tolerated fragrance to date, that does not mean that they are immune from developing an intolerance in the future.

I don’t bother but I think uva rays are passed through glass but not uvb rays. No doubt someone will correct me if I’m wrong and I don’t blame you for not asking the “freaks” you’ll get a patronising telling off by 100s of them! 🤦🏻‍♀️

My favourite body lotion is E45 cream, that seems to be paraffin heavy. E45 was actually a tip I picked up on Tattle, love it. Just thought I'd put that out there when I saw paraffin mentioned!

As for SPF I wear it every day even if staying indoors, as it can get sunny in my apartment and it's also to make sure I stay in the habit of putting it on. I also use P50 so don't want to risk going with SPF

If you are in the Freaks Group but don't want a ask a question yourself you can do a search using the search bar. Probably most questions have been answered and I seem to remember a question similar to yours a few months ago

With regards to SPF in think it is personal choice and circumstances when staying inside. Someone people have houses which let in a lot of sun so would be better off wearing it even when inside. My house gets sun in the morning and the evening so I decide on the day whether I need to wear it.

I would also say if you are regularly using acids or vitamin a I would be inclined to wear even if I was not going out for protection as your skin is more sensitive.
