It was icky how the doc referred to her “romance” with Harry Styles in a way that painted her as an it girl who turned all the heads of the men around her. That relationship was completely inappropriate!

He likely won’t ever be able to speak about that negatively if he wants to either because of the Be Kind stuff and I imagine Caroline’s mum would accuse him of using his fame as an imbalance of power.

I feel for her mother, it’s awful coming to terms with your child passing in those circumstances and you hope to go before your child ever does, but I don’t think this doc is offering anything other than an ego stroke for her to soothe her guilt over ultimately not doing enough. She wants to make up for what she couldn’t do when she was alive but whitewashing Caroline’s behaviour is not going to do herself any favours. I feel for Lou and all the friends who have been written out the story.

It’s one of those stories where if you were to switch the genders of the victim and the attacker, there wouldn’t be many people rushing to make excuses or whitewash questionable behaviour and inappropriate decisions. No chance.

Conflicted after watching the documentary. Like you all say, it doesnt matter what object she used, she still attacked him and drew blood. I think the photo being leaked was the final straw, it implied the blood was his and i remember at the time thinking she must have beat him badly for that much blood. i do think she should have been given a caution, given she admitted guilt and his injuries wasn’t extensive however, what she done wasn’t right and was abuse. I do think if she was only given a caution, the outcome would have still been the same as the shame and embarrassment was too much for her. A sad turn of events. I hope her mom can find peace with it all. Her ex has never spoken out has he other than defending her at the time. I wonder what he thinks now upon reflection

I’m not going to watch it because I think it deserves to sink without trace. It’s not a documentary, it’s an editorialised rewrite based on what Christine wants the public to think. And sharing private things which even people who didn't know Caroline think cross a line in order to do that is very low.

Sadly I think you're exactly right. The one that C4 did a couple of years ago showed that Caroline had always struggled with her mental health and was a lot more balanced. After hearing Lou Teasdale taking about it, I dont think I could bring myself to watch it when her and her Dad and a lot of her friends were airbrushed out of the whole situation (didn't some of them not attend her funeral??)

I watched that. I still can't get my head around what she thinks this programme has achieved. She talks about wanting to find answers but evrything covered was already out there (as well as being covered in detail at the inquest). This programme took us nowhere.

Caroline was clearly very troubled. Dermot alludes to this. Her mother talks about the problems she had as a child and as a teenager and it seems this just continued and worsened as she got older. I don't blame her mother for not being there because Caroline was after all a 40 year old woman, but the extent to which Caroline appeared to resist help whilst being a challenge to those around her, is problematic.

Why wasn’t she involved in watching her? I can’t believe she didn’t spend Christmas with her when it was clear Caroline was completely spiralling during that period. Even most of the texts and voice notes are messages to her friends. Where was her mother? It’s all well and good coming out now doing a documentary and going on a complete blame rampage, but where was she when Caroline was on a cliff edge?

The friends were in such an uncomfortable position, when they called 999 on her suicide attempt the night before she died she was angry with them and worried that it would get to the press, same for her drinking/taking pills the night before the court hearing, she told them not to tell her mother. They must have had to tiptoe around it


I was not a big Caroline fan so when she was arrested and then showed up at court in that tiny skirt I remember thinking ‘pfffr, does she even care?’

I think she should have released a statement to explain her mental health issues, that the blood in the flat was not hers, that she’d cut herself so severely. I understand her rep was telling her not too but really the way it was portrayed was a s if she didn’t give a F.

I took a few things from this doc.

1. It’s very sad that she took her life following a lifelong battle with her mental health
2. She hit Lewis with her phone and her mum and solicitor minimising this is really not ok.
3. Her mum seems obsessed with Caroline’s image and doesn’t highlight any responsibility Caroline had in this. I agree the press are disgusting. But Caroline did assault him, I also thought it was quite telling how she later trashed her flat. It’s understandable why Caroline therefore had such a fragile ego and couldn’t admit any responsibility.

watched the Disney documentary. Never seen such a one-sided sanitised version of a story. Her friends and family are doing her memory no favours by blaming everyone else. Her behaviour was unacceptable. Nothing excuses violence. The police had to take the case seriously because if they didn’t they’d be absolutely dragged for not protecting Lewis. If the roles were reversed they’d be expected to get justice for the woman and it is absolutely correct that they proceeded with prosecution. I don’t understand the need to vilify the police. People aren’t charged with a crime without good reason. Maybe the press but then she knew the press came part and parcel of her fame. I don’t think the family sufficiently acknowledged that she had experienced bad mental health episodes in the past and she was going to do whatever she wanted to, regardless of press or police involvement

I just googled how long Lewis and Caroline had been together, and I'm shocked they'd only met like 3 months beforehand. That's supposed to be the honeymoon period of any relationship.

That might be an indicator about how bad her mental health issues were. Her friend talks about Caroline's previous relationship with Andrew Brady, how much they argued etc. They were only togetherabout 6 months and got engaged after 3! Dermot's demeanour in that This Morning interview also suggested to me that Caroline was tricky to be around. Her mum said she would sometimes seek help, but clearly she had issues with doing so, which didn't help her in the end.

Yeah this is what annoyed me. It seemed like there was an element of 'oh bless Caroline, she never had much luck with men but she loved hard'. I get he was 'legal' but it was still disgusting.

Why wasn’t she involved in watching her? I can’t believe she didn’t spend Christmas with her when it was clear Caroline was completely spiralling during that period. Her mum mentioned that she kept trying to get her to come to stay with her in Norfolk but she refused to get out of London. Unfortunately you can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves. It seemed like there was opportunities there for her to get help (the paramedics trying to get her to go to hospital and her friends saying they told her to get professional help) but she wouldn't take them - and she was wealthy so had a lot more access to decent treatment than most would.

Tbf I do remember Caroline posting erratically on her stories the time that front page was released saying the media are manipulating things and that it was her blood on the bed. I do think it was a totally scummy thing for that newspaper to do if they knew it wasn’t Lewis’ blood but Caroline’s

I think it's also a double edged sword as Caroline loved the press when it helped her. Her mum even said she'd often ring them and give them good stories or would 'swap' a 'bad' story for something else. I think unfortunately when you curate that sort of image, then you have to realise that the press aren't your friends just because you're personally feeding them stories when things are going well - they're there to make money at the end of the day. Not saying that makes their treatment of her okay, but I do think celebs need to be wary of how they engage with 'gossip' mag/newspaper type journalists.
