All jokes aside, age difference becomes less of an issue as you get older however, it doesn't matter what anyone says - a 31 year old having an interest in a 17 year old is weird, end of discussion. If you had a 17 year old lad and he started seeing a 31 year old woman, you're telling me that you wouldn't be a little bit concerned?

Think about it, wouldn't you be shocked if you heard of a 12 year old in a relationship with say...a 20 year old? And that would only be an 8 year difference. Does that make it ok? Cos it's less of an age gap than in your marriage? It's not about how many years are between them as much as it is about someone in their 30's being sexually attracted to and having a sexual relationship with a teenager. If it had happened when he was in his 20's, not the same, but he wasn't. He was 17. That's illegal in other countries in the west and there's reasons for that.

Because for reasons I can't quite understand, you started to compare this to the 11 year age gap in your marriage. That's not the point and you know it. The point is, this was a person in their 30's having a relationship with a 17 year old. It's one thing for an age gap from your 20's onwards, but this was a kid! A lot of people don't think that's ok and other developed countries consider that illegal, for good reason.

The reason is because @NessieNoo92 thought I liked young boys, so I explained that they were wrong and I married someone 11 years older. Hope you understand where the 11 years came from now.

No, I also didn't say it was ok for someone in their 30's to have a relationship, however he was 17, which is LEGAL and also vastly different to someone in their 30's being in a relationship with someone say, 15.

Celebs are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. There was a number of people in here kicking off about all the celeb tributes. Maybe Harry didn’t want to make a public declaration of condolence, he didn’t have to, he’s obviously a private person and he paid his respects in his own way at the brits anyway
I just find it weird when people want a public tribute? Fair enough if the celeb themselves decides to make one, but I don't think its necessary...they can go to the funeral or say their condolences to the family in public. I remember kids harassed Debby Ryan endlessly when Cameron Boyce died, and were constantly asking why she hadn't posted. Like, let them grieve fgs.

I echo the argument that while what happened between Harry and Caroline might not have been illegal, it was hugely inappropriate. I’m not someone who tries to reverse genders in every situation to prove ‘misogyny isn’t real’ or some nonsense when context makes a very different situation... but this is a case where a reversal is relevant. Even tho I think the dynamic would have been different between a 31 year old man and 17 year old woman, and possibly was less of a imbalance of power in this case, they may well have had a genuine connection, she should have known not to pursue it.

I said it was immoral at best and illegal at worst. Meaning in other western countries it would be illegal. The age of consent is another matter really anyway. A relationship between a couple of 17 year olds? Fine. A relationship between a 17 year old and a 32 year old? Not fine. Do you get it?
On the contrary, 17 year olds are very much still children these days, probably more so than they've ever been. A 17 year old has to legally still be in education nowadays. So a 17 year old is effectively still a "school child".
It's not about twisting anything, it's pure fact - this was a woman in her 30's having a relationship with a teenager. Nobody is calling out the various other relationships this woman had whilst in her 30's and 40's with men in their 20's. But a 32 year old with a 17 year old (and not a very worldly one at that) is gross.
Dismissing it as "not illegal" isn't helpful either. Look at the problems with pedophilia in Japan. For a long time, until very very recently in fact, pedophilia was not illegal. Does that mean it's ok? The law there now has the age of consent at 15 I believe. Is that ok? That's a dangerous attitude to have.
People need to be allowed to speak up on issues that concern them, without being shot down with "No, that's ok cos it's not illegal" or "No you mustn't say that, cos poor Caroline Flack is dead and we must only speak of her as if she were an angel from now on". I refuse to do that over someone of such questionable character and abusive behaviour.
