I feel sorry for her family and friends, but let's be honest here. If this was a man who was awaiting trial for assaulting his girlfriend/wife, and he took his own life, people would be saying that he was the world's biggest scumbag. None of this retroactive sympathy and cries of THE MEDIA BULLIED HIM.
How much of the negative press was even true though?!
Yes I would actually I would ask what happened. I never said it didn't work both ways or she shouldn't be accountable.

I didn’t know if she was an only child, not necessarily focusing on gender.
I thought she had lost a huge amount of weight since December, she must have led a tortured few months, so sad that she couldn't see a way out. I didn't particularly like her but its sad that she felt this way and couldn't seem to change her behaviour and was stuck in a very negative pattern of behaviour. But RIP and commiserations to her family.
She wasn't an only child - she has a twin sister, for whom I can only imagine how traumatic this is. Terrible waste of life

Desperately sad news you would assume people in her position would be getting some support or rehab really makes you think about these celebrities lives. It was obvious to everyone that she had issues and needed help maybe she was offered the help and didn‘t take it or maybe it just wasn’t enough, celebrity status certainly has huge pitfalls.
Its a tragic end that could have been so different I looked back at my own post on this thread back in December it was not overly kind but probably deemed fair comment on the news at that time, the past is now somewhat irrelevant.
I really feel for her family and close friends but of course it will be all about her celebrity friends and trial by media etc she will still be used to make headlines and sell papers and clicks

As said above, I thought she was an only child. That’s why I meant it’s sad for her parents to lose a daughter. But another commenter has mentioned that isn’t the case.

A lot of people jumping on the media are bullies bandwagon when.. yeah, that must be hard at times to see bad things printed about you but there must of been a lot more going on behind the scenes and in her life to make her do something like this. She was clearly very unwell.
So sad ... and her poor boyfriend who hasn’t been able to see her since the incident must be feeling so guilty. Poor girl

In my mind, if society at large is now advocating for men to be held to account for their abuses of power, sexual assaults and domestic assaults, then women need to hold themselves to the same standards we expect from men.
The press were right to report the story. She was a public figure and if she did truly beat her boyfriend with a lamp, it was an intentional act. Even if in the heat of the moment, it was a choice that was made. Whoever the victim of abuse like this, whatever gender, should be listened to and taken seriously.
Those who advocate for gender equality usually also participate in “cancel culture” and for me you cannot say on the one hand that you want gender equality when you also want to blame the press for how they reported this story.

Shocked but not entirely surprised. Some things are easy to say with hindsight, but I remember thinking more than once when she was on Strictly that there was something off about her. Could see the darkness behind her eyes, something which seems to have been validated when she bashed her boyfriend over the head with a lamp. All very sad indeed.
Its just such a shame. A toxic relationship, possible drink/drugs issues and could see no way out. Horrendous. However, everybody jumping on the "be kind" bandwagon need to be careful. If the tables were turned and it was caroline that called the police on her boyfriend for assault, would everyone be saying "be kind" about him??

At the end of the day we’ve only got his word against hers here.
Being in the public eye weather it be on tv, on the gram leaves people open to opinion and critisism, it can’t be easy and it’s dangerous.
I wonder how this will move forward with the boyfriend. The length of time till trial has clearly not helped her state of mind as it’s a long drawn out process and living in uncertainty.
