It absolutely made sense to drug test them both in this situation.
It absolutely did not. Under what authority? The victim was not arrested for anything. I don't mean to be rude, but it seems to me that you are speaking out of your arse.

Unless perhaps you are suggesting that Caroline was suspected of drugging him? I guess in that situation a victim would be drug tested. Is that what you meant? Did Caroline drug him as well as attack him?

Interesting. I too thought of another TV presenter that reminded me of Caroline’s fall from grace, and that was Paula Yates. A very colourful character, very attractive to the press, a lot of public interest in her personal life. All sunshine and rainbows when she was top of her game, but when she got involved with Hutchence, it went down hill and snowballed. The media were very venomous towards her. I remember her being on Have I Got News For You and Ian Hislop in particular being very barbed. A slow and painful decline ensued.

I loved Paula Yates. I thought she was clever and funny. I can’t say the same for Caroline i’m afraid. I kind of disliked her inability to get past the age of 25. I didn’t like the kind of shows she fronted. I did have a slight change of heart when I saw her being interviewed by Kathy Burke. She was very candid and I though quite possibly misunderstood, however that would have been partly due to a public image she had a hand in creating. I certainly thought she could do miles better than Andrew Brady, who I saw on Big Brother riding Courtney Act’s coat tails. Just a serial user and operator. It was clear to see how much the stuffing was knocked out of her during that court appearance. She looked totally bereft. And yet people continued to put the boot in. It’s a very sad case. I think with her melancholic predisposition, fame on that level was quite possibly the worst thing to happen to her.
Paula Yates was brilliant, she exposed Gary Glitter on live tv asking if they were very young and his expression said everything.
I'm indifferent to CF. But it's strange how she's become the poster for be kind when bo seletca was what influencers would call brutal trolling and bullying

Sadly I think she was quite troubled and the end result regardless of the CPS would be the same. Her industry is brutal for women once they reach a certain age and I think she would have struggled with that.

Maybe their decision to prosecute wasn’t just based on his injury alone. Their body cam footage would have shown her as completely out of control, irate, aggressive and flipping tables in custody. There is a lot more to consider than just the initial throwing of the phone, which she admitted to by saying she whacked him round the head. I’m sure the police were very concerned for what they witnessed that night and that a lot of what they had on body cam is also reasons for the charges persisting. There is a reason Caroline was completely fearful of that footage getting out.
If they were truly concerned for her she would’ve been sectioned under the mental health act. It’s a catastrophic failure that she wasn’t.

The younger men weren't always financially unstable - certainly Prince Harry and Harry Styles are worth a few bob.
Harry Styles was during Xfactor days when he was just another boyband (boy being the operative word) member in the contest, right before they hit the big time. I suspect the Prince Harry thing was blown all out of proportion and was more than likely a fling. Otherwise it would have followed her around for years like his other significant exes.

I just saw this as well! I wonder what the mother will try to blame this one on? Very sad for the family however.

This did strike me as odd - I sent a pic to my friend of what ex did to me, purely because I knew he’d get my phone and delete it. It seems it was sent to justify him calling the police (which he did, correctly IMO)

I wonder what the message sent with the pic was
He sealed her fate by sending that pic. Bloody stupid thing to do!

They assessed her in the hospital as no risk to herself or others. She told them she didn’t have suicidal ideation. Her family and friends tried to get her to get help but she refused it.
She had made several ‘attempts on her life’ from the time she was a teenager but as she didn’t ever try really hard (she ended up in A&E multiple times but never did herself any lasting damage), I’d imagine no one thought she‘d ever really go through with it.

I know people who have tried to overdose and have lifelong damage from it.

I agree she was worried about the bodycam footage as that could not be 'spun', would the footage from the police interview been shown in court? As wasn't there reports of her behaviour during the interview that if true would have also put her in a negative light as she couldn't use been under the influence.
I get her mum is still in pain but this documentary didn't need to be made/aired.

His character or lack of is completely irrelevant though. Like even if he is a total sleezebag and she had found out he was messaging countless women sending dick pics galore, an assault still took place and he still had every right to phone the police that night as she was very clearly out of control. I’m not sure what it is about this that people aren’t grasping? He could be the biggest walking ick man child known to man, and he was still assaulted in his sleep. Caroline’s mother, as much as she has researched for the truth, wasn’t there that night and isn’t privy to the bodycam footage that would no doubt have assisted the CPS in their decision to press charges. Not only did an assault take place but she was clearly out of control self harming, resisting arrest and flipping tables and being completely irate and aggressive. It wasn’t just the little light brush with the phone that her mother is painting it to be.

Honestly this rewriting of it all does nothing only hurt more people and bring it all to the surface again. I don’t think Caroline was the type of person who would still want people to be talking and dissecting every minute detail of the worst night of her life six years later, but yet her mother has made it happen.
I’m grasping it just fine thanks! I didn’t say he shouldn’t have called the police, I said I thought that a caution in this instance should have sufficed! I’m surprised by people’s lack of compassion over someone who made a mistake and yes lashed out! She paid the ultimate price in the end! I think it could potentially happen to anyone if copious amounts of alcohol is involved and you react badly to cheating texts in that split second! She admitted she’d done it and wasn’t charged with anything like resisting arrest. Unfortunately this all snowballed and him sending pics of her blood to a friend who then sold them to the press is totally out of order! I don’t agree with her Mum sugar coating everything either though. She was ill advised by her legal team to plead not guilty. She herself wanted to plead guilty, but was advised not to! The outcome could have been very different!

I just find it so sad that she made this one huge mistake and ended her life over it. I just find it heartbreaking for her friends and family.

That solicitor was dodgy. I think the whole documentary completely backfired on those involved. They need to let her rest now.

I’m confused about that post. Her bail conditions meant she couldn’t contact him. How could she be telling him to come back from holiday / sending him manipulative messages like “you’ll never see me again”? Unless she broke the conditions but I thought a big contributing factor to her death was that she couldn’t see or speak to Lewis.

And this goes to show exactly how the system is designed to fail people. If you’ve slit your wrists you’re clearly at risk of harming yourself, regardless of what you tell them. If you’ve assaulted someone, you’re clearly at risk of harming others. The idea of “oh they won’t go through with it” is exactly why so many die every single day. It’s devastating and it’s a real pandemic but no one wants to actually talk about it, they just post #bekind on mental health day and move on.

Police would not drug test either of them as standard. Carrie might have been drug tested due to her erratic and wild behaviour (to rule out a mental health episode) but unlikely that Lewis would have been

On the rare occasions it happens it families it tends to be brothers, whether it’s genetic or not they don’t know.

Tragic as fuck mind you.
Yes this has happened to several families that I've heard of where I live. Mainly brothers but some sisters too.

Mental health difficulties must run in their family? I wonder did he always struggle. Poor guy. So sad for his partner and kids.

Yes I would if a female sent a pic to a friend of a boyfriend’s blood all over the bed who’d been self harming. Knowing the press interest in the case and that he didn’t want to press charges, he had no business stirring things up and sending a pic to someone.
Yeah exactly. The picture. It's about respect. Respect for your partner. People seem to forget he was cheating on her. He didn't give two hoots about her. Not one bit. That's a calculated move taking a picture which he knows can be easily sent on and sold for money. He knew it would get out. I can imagine he sent it along with the words of what a pyscho bitch. Etc etc.

Yes she shouldn't have hit him but due was deeply hurt and angry that her whole relationship with him had been a lie whereas she thought it was love. It's so very sad.
