You have to give Lewis credit where it’s due to be fair. In the five years since her death, I don’t think he’s ever done even one media interview or sob story or even shared anything online about what went on or divulged any details. There’s many a z lister who would have milked what happened for all it’s worth and done interviews galore, written books and completely capitalised on what went on. His biggest crime really seems to be moving on with his life?
THIS 👏🏼
This deserves credit

I always liked Caroline and thought she was treated appallingly by the press, i thought she really shone on strictly she was the same age as me and I was so shocked at her passing
I can't watch the doc but from reading here it sounds like it's not been done sensitively
I suppose the problem is you can't have it both ways. You can't court the press and give them titbits but then complain when they report stories about you. She loved the press when they were on her side.

Looking at some pics of her online and it really looks like the only picture where she has an honest look on her face is after court. The rest of the time she looks like a person really trying to look as if she's got the best life ever and is having the best time, but I get the impression that this was hardly ever the case.

Have to admit reading that post I think Lewis did exactly the right thing by turning off his phone and not allowing her to manipulate him. I don’t know whether he is an arsehole and it doesn’t matter really. He is not to blame for anything that happened. She invaded his privacy by snooping on his phone and then assaulted him when he was asleep.

She had a history of intense, volatile, relationships with younger men and had self harmed and taken overdoses after relationship breakdowns in the past. Yes, I feel compassion for someone who is struggling as much as she clearly was but that does not absolve her of responsibility and consequences for her choices and actions. She had the financial resources and support network to be able to get the help she needed which is more than lots of people in similar situations to her have.

If Caroline Flack had been your daughter. Your absolute pride and joy. Your world. Or your best friend who you loved more than anything in the world and had cut her manipulative partner on the head and then ended her life over the guilt of the assault (I'm assuming) then would you still be saying oh well she did abuse him though. I dont think so but it's easy for us public to see it as black and white because we hold no emotional connection to her. All I am saying is this.
I don’t think anyone is saying “oh well…” it’s tragic she ended her life over it and I feel very sad now it’s emerged how troubled her life had been prior to and immediately after the incident.
but having been there myself in a toxic relationship, drinking too much, explosive arguments and with no doubt it would have turned violent had it not ended when it did, it doesn’t excuse any of the bad behaviour I displayed then. Even when acting out of emotional distress.

the law is black and white on the assault charge but I think its right in that no one’s feelings/the situation are necessarily black and white - from what we know it seemed like a bad relationship all round, and she appeared to be struggling with her mental health. Seeing it and truly living it from her POV I absolutely get it. But she still did wrong and it was not the media or CPS insistence on charging her that caused her death (which seems to be what her family/mother) are insinuating.

Unfortunately the mother is not a reliable narrator. She is insistent on infantilising Caroline throughout and has airbrushed Lou Teasdale and her dad out of the whole narrative, so what else has been glossed over or airbrushed? When she started minimising throwing the phone saying she just tapped it off him to wake him up that was enough for me. She wasn’t there, how could she possibly know this? Lewis had a wound on his head and l’d imagine it would take some force from a phone to make that kind of impact. The downplaying of Caroline’s violence that night was uncomfortable to watch.
Yes. Zero accountability.

I've not seen the documentary so my only resource of info is here 😬 but perhaps that phonecall was for the benefit of both of them.
She woke him by means of a whack around the head & she's likely screaming like a banshee
She proceeded to self harm to which point you don't know when she'll stop.... if at all!

Unless she only self harmed AFTER he called the police then what I've just posted doesn't tally at all.

Either way, you've been dating a matter of months & are awoken by a physical assault who knows what else lies ahead.

Just watched Lou's interview and wonder why she wasn't in the documentary at all.Is about 50 minutes in she describes the last few days of Caroline's life and is very different to Christine's version .Molly spoke but Lou was for some reason completely ignored but was a really good friend to Caroline.I bet she feels hurt by the lack of honesty in some parts of this Apple documentary.View attachment 3785099
It was notable that there was so many people in the first documentary that weren't in the second. Olly Murs was in the first and a few others.
I reckon they were approached and declined.

No, he was not arrested for anything. And I don’t know why you’d think I was suggesting Caroline drugged him - absolutely no way. They had both been out drinking separately before coming together and then having this argument. He was (understandably) confused, she was having a mental health episode, for the purposes of having a full picture for the investigation, they were both asked to be drug tested and obliged.
Waking someone up by hitting them over the head with an object isn’t really an argument though. Are you Caroline’s mum? She down plays it as that too

Christ, that poor, poor family. I have been critical of Christine in the past but my heart goes out to that poor woman and the rest of the family, absolutely fucking heartbreaking. I hope they are getting all the love and support they need and that the press leave them the fuck alone.

I wish I had had the courage to call 999 the first time my then husband assaulted me, maybe then I wouldn’t have endured 7 years of physical, mental, emotional and financial abuse and I wouldn’t be suffering now from PTSD. You should count yourself lucky not to have ever been in a situation where you fear for your life.
I am so sorry you went through this. I’ve been diagnosed with C-PTSD after my abusive ex and I wish I had called 999 too. Sending you hugs and support x

I wonder why she didn’t just plead guilty? She admitted it initially anyway. She could have saved herself the whole messy trial ahead of her, admitted she’d done it and released a statement saying how sorry she was etc.

Did anyone find it unsettling the voice note they played on the documentary which she sent to someone sounding perky saying she is going to make a documentary about it all… like how and why was she thinking about how she could profit off and exploit her assaulting her partner? I find it bizarre.

She had a pattern for dating much younger, very attractive (debateable but she had a type) men who were financially unstable or not as wealthy as her. If the roles were reversed everyone would rightly be shouting about the power imbalance.

In many ways she herself came across immature, she wasn’t known for her broadcasting skills and courted the press to remain relevant. It’s tragic she took her own life but that’s what SHE did.

Considering how well known she was and how many celebs and broadcasters she worked with it’s a bit of a surprise that not many (have any?) come out with support for this version of events.

Her mum wanted her to be treated as special. The CPS didn’t make an example of her, they treated her like anyone else who there was watertight evidence of had assaulted someone else and denied it.
Caroline didn’t deny it though - her police statement on the night apparently shows she admitted she did it and there was no excuse for it. The prosecution also described Lewis’s injuries as significant when it was pretty much a nick on the head that didn’t need any treatment (his refusal notwithstanding). At the time, there was no evidence to suggest it was anything other than a drunken argument that had escalated out of hand. Given her mental health issues (which were apparent from the self-harm/suicide attempt that night) a caution would have been an appropriate response.

I think the ‘Not Guilty’ plea at the magistrate’s hearing was to do with the specifics and level of the charges rather than an attempt to deny any wrongdoing at all.

In the documentary Christine said it was Caroline's sister Jody that found her and tried to work on her. She just said she went there with two others (obviously Lou and her father but not named) But Lou said it was her father that found her first and tried to resuscitate her.

So who's telling the truth there?

I’ve not watched the documentary but this thread has always saddened me going on about Caroline whacking poor burton with the lamp and what if roles were reversed blah, etc. Thank goodness for somebody pointing out the Lewis burton thread which ironically sets the record straight and highlights what a nasty piece of work he is and how wronged she was in all this. Utter tragedy the whole thing and as for all those sticking up for him, professional tennis player my ass, professional con man more like. He should get a proper job and earn his own wage, wtf does he actually do, definition of a leech this man he wasn’t even all that in tennis terms either, proper blag back story this man has and such a shame Caroline fell for it
Couldn’t agree more! He totally gas lit her and she lashed out in a drunken moment! I can’t believe he then sent his friend pics of her blood all over the bed! Absolute scum bag!

Ever since her death, or possibly even since her arrest, whenever I see her on screen I feel such sadness because she really did have that ‘star power’ as in she was so very fun to watch. I wish I could look as fun to be around as she did. But perhaps that persona is always an act that hides a deeper sadness. I cannot think of another female presenter that seems like one of the girls and also one of the boys as well. She clearly needed someone in her life, both pre and post assault that would have delivered some tough love - stop self medicating, get off social media, get some proper MH support. Having worked in crisis PR, her team got everything wrong but possibly because she was unwilling or unable to communicate. But this is what she paid them for. I honestly cannot believe how it went this wrong. Perhaps once she’d been left adrift by ITV (arguably for understandable reasons) they no longer felt she was able to be saved. But then this feels like a massive load to leave on friends who had their own lives and jobs and commitments.

This is so important for me.
Caroline died at her own hands because she didnt want her mental health issues to become public knowledge. Im nearly sure I read somewhere that she hadnt wanted it revealed the extent of her issues.
It was "bad" enough that everyone would know to some extent because of how she died.... but she was so paranoid that she had and kept several phones, to see all her innermost thoughts being revealed so publicly seems to be completely the opposite of what she wanted.

Even if the mother was trying to ease her own conscience by doing this, I think this was not the way to do it

I have finally caught up. I aren't a CF fan nor watched anything really what she presented.

Caroline's problems imo come from her wanting (no judgement here) to keep her mental health struggles private. Noone in the world should want or need to know anyone's health diagnosis or issues. The problem it seems is that Caroline herself wasnt ready or willing to address her issues.

Like many of us do, we choose to blame everyone else for our problems without realising that in the words of Taylor Swift, its me, hi, I'm the problem its me.

Its easy to demonise Lewis who I am sure is no saint or angel, as he is the one living, its a lot harder to demonise a dead person, when a person dies you typically focus on their greatness not their faults. Noone will stand at a funeral and say my god she was a pain in the arse or jeysus, he was a right gobby shite.

Caroline's mum is not respecting her daughters memory by keeping the details of her health private. Something Caroline seemed terrified of being found out.

Caroline it seems was scared of being seen as an actual person, flaws and all, that I feel is the most tragic.

Noone would have been able to stop her from doing what she felt she had no other choice but to do.

Does anyone know why her elder sister behaved the way she did.
