Candice has been on Channel 5 news today discussing the Little Mermaid controversy because Disney have cast a beautiful perfect-fit actress for Ariel, who is also black. The views opposing this are so very wrong and I agree with Candice here, however how does having a popular Instagram account ‘qualify’ her to appear as an expert on the news about any issue at all? Does number of social media followers now substitute proper credentials?

You know there’s no love lost here as I can’t stand this woman but I’m not sure about the whole shady past thing.
Of course there’s exploitation in the sex industry, however it’s not always the case and sex workers can be there freely and willingly. I’d like to understand her role in this more before going in on it. I don’t think the sex industry is exclusively shady but agree there are a lot of shady parts to it.
However, I don’t think she should be hiding her past... that would suggest shame could stem from shady tit. Who knows.

That’s the thing that bothers me the most - why is she hiding it? It indicates something shady has gone on. She should be open about it.

People SHOULD speak up in defence of others especially if they’ve seen what happened. It’s that look the other way in awkward situations thing, possibly quite a british trait, I bet they would have done the same whatever colour skin that person had.
Like it’s the white people who are watching and not saying anything but nothing to do with the fact she was probably stood where she shouldn’t have been and could have just moved but bc the guy was white she thought ‘oooh this make a good story’ and stood exactly where she was.
I followed her for ages, like over a year and I proper loved her but this last 6 months everything has been turned around on race. I feel victimised and I’ve never met the lady! I stand up for what is right but I’m being tarred with the same brush as ‘white people’ as a race, I don’t need that tit on my insta feed.
The sad thing is as a white woman I now wouldn’t feel comfortable going to her teatime live events. Not that she would be rude to me but I would feel that she wouldn’t want me there and I’d feel I have no right. Which is really sad as I used to really respect her and out of everyone on Instagram I felt she had something worth saying and educated people
I don't think anyone is denying that black people are more profiled than white people but the two examples that she gave could have easily happened to anyone. I've found myself in similar situations (interestingly enough at the airport as well, everyone is on the edge there) and people won't always do that right thing and stand up for others. She should have moved immediately when asked to do so at the airport instead of sitting there and trying to argue 'Bro, chill' - really? To an airport officer? And the second story was because of an issue with her card or something and the guy clearly should have been fired a long time ago since the cab company mentioned it wasn't even the first time he was aggressive and rude to his customers?
So I guess my question is, *any time* she will find herself in a situation where there is clearly a misunderstanding or dealing with a difficult person, it will be because she is black? I guess so.

yeah, that was my first thought too. Surely everyone knows by now that you don’t duck about in an airport? If they tell you to do something, you do it. And the people ‘who stood there and did nothing’ were probably thinking the same.
What I don’t get it she admits she was detained by a black police officer but she still thinks it was racial profiling because the initial person asking her to move was white? The police officer was the one that took it further
Having spent my 20s travelling the country for work and flying multiple times a week, I have NEVER encountered any airport member of staff behave in such a manner and I’ve flown into and out of Luton many times.
Her story doesn’t ring true and if that staff member has reacted to the point of contacting police and them then detaining her that’s something within her behaviour that day that’s triggered it. The story about the cab driver is believable but the airport one isn’t. Maybe that’s why no one stood up for her then?
