That was worth the wait, apart from the choi's, Michael is interesting, his girl friend moves her mouth/ jaw in a funny way and it really distracts me but on the whole, much better episodes and so good to have Barry back

I am! Up in the frozen north. I used to watch River City religiously but I haven’t seen it in years (if it’s even still on). That was a cracking soap!
I've never seen River City, used to watch Take the high road, Mrs Mack used to scare me!

Ah yeah true.
The dad was annoying tbh. Glad he had a short stint.
I went down a rabbit hole of wiki ing Marie and then George to find out their future storyline too…..
I did too, and the actor who played their dad died a few months later.

Heather was a stunner, my oh always had a thing about her, I used to get really jealous over her!!!

Same just mentioned it above.i trier so hard to get into it from the beginning but it's just so dull.i left it where pet had got pregnant and barry was sniffing around her lol.
The guy in the bungalow and Gordon with the synthesiser thing got me switching off lol.
I can’t wait for 1990s Brookside, no soap comes close to that era. That’s what makes it my favourite soap of all time.

I’m still loving the Brookside reruns - but the free George campaign storyline does drag on a bit.
I’m not sure if the three nurses bring much to the close. I didn’t like their big storyline at the time (I wanted something more realistic).

I’m hoping to see more of Tommy Mcardle and Victor!

There’s never any change to Alan’s voice, like he’s reading a long text message with no punctuation! I’m not sure what the point in the character is.

I must’ve missed an episode but what happened to the girl Barry picked up hitch hiking who pretended she couldn’t speak English? One minute she was living with Alan and Paul was chasing her around the garden and the next she’d gone. (I probably answered my own question there, being chased by Paul would make anyone pack up and leave pretty sharpish)
Yes I feel like I’ve missed that too. I feel like it jumped from Christmas prep to New Year’s Eve, unless I’ve missed an episode, but I don’t think I have!

To be fair all the early episodes of Brookside are shit, with a lot of weak storylines and characters. I'm patiently waiting for Bar Brookie, the Jordaches, Tinhead and Jen Ellison to appear.
I can’t wait either! Peak 90s Brookside is incredible and the best soap ever. I can’t get into 80s Brookside. I found it so boring.

I'd forgotten about Bobby and drink driving! He was awful to Barry, so is that Barry gone off again for a while!
Loved seeing them all waving at the end of xmas episodes!

Sky dont half make it hard to find the new episodes.

Imagine having to find a paper timetable to sort train times tho. We dont know we are born nowadays 😉

Absolutely, she was a massive character, and though I didn't agree with everything she did or said, you totally believed in her, a masterclass by Sue Johnston.
I started counting every time Jimmy said the words Godden or Frankie and lost count!
Very very boring but now Barry is on the case it should become a little more interesting.
On the alarm, when we had one fitted it needed to be wired in, not just a box fixed to the wall, so that confused me a little.
Great to see Margaret, she is a good addition and also I loved Patricia back in the day, She was so fashionable and modern in her attitude to females in the work place

It's setting the groundwork for the new era of Brookside now, especially with Sheila and Claire leaving, I'll miss Claire, she was such a poppet
Sheila & Billy leaving was quite understated, you’d be forgiven for thinking that they were just going on a break not leaving permanently. If this was nowadays they would have made more of a fuss of their departure

It was like Harry just going away for what seemed like only a holiday but Mick has revealed, from a phone call, he’s not coming back (although he does make a brief return in the late 90s) and the Collins’s departure was quite subdued as well

Once the Dixons arrive, this will be like, as you say, a new era for the show. Brookside 2.0 in a way and is when I started watching the show. Once the Parade opens, which won’t be until late 1991 that’s when the storylines properly ramp up
