OMG how have I missed this?? I didn’t realise they were showing it again. I used to love Brookside. Will go google STV now as I have no idea what channel this is ha. Looking forward to hopefully watching it soon.

I couldn't wait for the series to get to Damon and Debbie and was determined to watch it in sequence. When I was a kid I absolutely loved that spin off (even though it was probably far too young to watch it).

But...OMG.. How things look different over time. The cheesiest 80s theme tune ever at the end of each of the three episodes, a terrible storyline, abysmal acting. The brothers only just finding out that Debbie was diabetic yet at the end saying to her they could finally give her sweets. On top of all that Damon was an emotional and physical prick.

Scenes I thought I remembered well but that also looked totally differently back then.

Omg same! And last year my friend and I were the first to arrive at work and when we open the door we could smell gas. She put a hand out to switch on the light and I screamed in her face 🤣
Literally my sister did the same thing once and I had a vision of my house going up like Brookside Parade 🤣.

Why on earth did Heather and Polly take that tiny plane to Belfast? 😆
If there were no regular flights to Belfast from Liverpool back in 1983 (I can’t remember), there would have been plenty from Manchester - or take the boat over.
Perhaps there was a part in the storyline that I missed - but it looked like a death trap!

I had forgotten how the union storylines dominated the earlier episodes of the show. Endless conversations on the factory closing down - it went on for about two years.
My dad and brother were made redundant from Hygena in Liverpool around 1982. I remember wishing Brookside focused more on other storylines, as I had enough of it in real life..

Harold and Edna have arrived. Harold constantly on at Edna to shut up, that’s how I remember him. We will also see the “scandal” of their son living with a divorced woman who had a daughter. I was totally puzzled by this at the time - living with / marrying a divorcee was really no big deal in 1983. Maybe an issue for the very religious - but I don’t recall it being scandalous in 1980s Liverpool.

Now caught up
I know there's a warning about some language used at the time but was still shocked they let those disgusting words in in that scene with Nisha.

Suppose it was slow to start as not many families were introduced at first. As the months go on it gets better and I did enjoy the Alan Partridge scenes and Harry Cross with his gnomes 🤣 Phil Redmond did get the humour mixed with real life worries down to a T, kudos to him.
I liked Annabelle and not Paul so much to start, but that's the other way round now, she annoys me with her judgemental high pitched voice. Not sure of her real life name but she died really young, a couple of years after starting at Brookie I think and I can't remember what storylines the Collins family have coming up, so I'm interested to watch that again.
I do look forward to a Wednesday night 🙊

Annabelle makes an appearance in this week’s episodes. That is her last episode before the actress’s death off screen. We will see her in some more episodes in a few months but these aired after she had passed away
Is sad isnt it, I had no idea if her illness when I watched it first time round, but this time seems so sad.

STV Player are going to show the Damon and Debbie spinoff starting on New Years Day

The first hour long episode will be available on Jan 1st and the remaining 2 episodes will be available on Jan 8th.

There will also be 5 extra Brookside episodes available on Christmas Day

That's great, I was wondering if they were going to show it! And extra episodes for Xmas, that's good to!

I have only watched the first 10 episodes so hopefully not spoiling it for folk, but Lucy was so scary when she went for that other girl with a hockey stick! It's such a shame she died at 41 no age and her mother on the show too I read died in her 50s....

Ahh I'm so pleased that our little Brookie gang is still going strong
The aftermath of the siege, the awful intrusions, pretending to view Maries's house, just to gawp at Pat and Sandra - shocking!!
Edna not very well, some fantastic acting from Harry Cross (Bill Dean?) this week, and all sadly still true regarding the NHS.
I'm waiting for creepy picture box man too!!
And can't be long now til the first of The Corkhills

I wasn’t allowed to watch brookside when I was a kid, my parents thought it was too racy I think! I used to try and sneak it on. Is STV available through sky q? Never heard of it!
Just search for it via sky and download them.

5 episodes a week is not enough!!

I never realized there was a 13/14 year age gap between Paul and Annabelle!
What parents would go to bed with that party going on and kids spewing everywhere!
Heather and Nick zero chemistry!
