Anyone got the kobo unlimited service? I’m contemplating investing as it’s unlimited audio hours for the month (and a good price) but wanted to know any reviews of it, particularly what sort of new books they get on it

Always like to do my end of month recap the first day of the new month so here it is! Not bad tbh.
I also read Main Characters and Dolly All The Time in the past month or two. My ratings were flipped compared to yours. I loved Main Characters. Gave it 5 stars. I slogged through Dolly and gave it 2 stars. Though I don’t remember why
I love when this happens!! I liked Main Characters in the end, like for me 3 is a good rating really, it's like I liked it but something was not quite there and for me it was that the concept made it difficult for me to actually get invested in these characters. Found it addictive, like hearing gossip about friends of friends but had zero stakes in. I got my kobo but they sent the wrong colour, I bought it second hand. I'm not that bothered about the colour but I've just seen the kindle coloursoft is on offer for about the same price I paid for the kobo. So I'm not sure if to return to kobo and buy the coloursoft new instead
Or the kobo Libra colour is the same price new as well

I read her One Dark Window/Two Twisted Crowns duology earlier this year and loved her writing.
I have just started her other duology, with The Knight and The Moth, and the new release The Knave and The Moon is sitting on my shelf ready for reading straight after. I am halfway through The Knight and The Moth and again I love her writing. I love the gargoyle
Her descriptions are vivid and flow really easily, I think. And her stories are around 350 pages so not too long. I do enjoy longer fantasies sometimes but it is refreshing to read a story that is resolved in duology format, with both books being around 350 pages. Sometimes a longer series can be an epic slog (even if they are enjoyable).
I think I will look out for more fantasy duologies, going forward.

the shepherd king duology is maybe one of my favourite fantasy series - the way she does the magic in it is so clever and i think of ravyn maybe every day what a babe i did struggle a little bit with the knight and the moth because it didn’t grab me as much as the last series did. the gargoyle is an absolute star though and it interested me enough to read the next book.

Knave and the Moon arrived yesterday and I’ll definitely prioritise reading it this month - in part because of the cliffhanger at the end of Knight but also because the 350 pages don’t feel like an epic commitment.
Now I think about it I wonder if some of my recent aversion to long books has been due to overly long fantasy books, not just reading targets.

i did struggle a little bit with the knight and the moth because it didn’t grab me as much as the last series did. the gargoyle is an absolute star though and it interested me enough to read the next book.

Oh that's disappointing, when I saw the second book was coming out I wanted to read the first, it had so many good reviews
The Shepherd King is now on my list though.350 pages is perfect for me. And even though I have enjoyed Sarah J Maas books at 800+, that's because I was invested in the story but my preference is definitely when a great story can be told succinctly. I am more likely to start something at a normal length than a new-to-me series with huge books.
