I finally got around to reading In Memoriam. What. A. Book. So beautifully written, a few gory bits (which I didnt like that much!) but this book is going straight into my top ten ever. I absolutely loved it.

Im so fed up of seeing a book and thinking that looks interesting and it’s either about someone who is left a house and finds a hidden diary that tells a tale of the past, or an elderly relative tells them the story of the past and it all cleverly interweaves.

The books are often quite good and interesting but the premise of being left a house and finding a secret has been done to death, get some new plot devices!

i hate these types of books 🤣 especially because the diary is almost always conveniently written with full conversations and dialogue in a way that a diary NEVER would be. even worse if there’s some moody stranger who works in whatever big house she’s uncovering (usually a gardener) and obviously they FALL IN LOVE.

And noone ever just reads to the end where the whole mystery is explained 🤣

Only 100 in the TBR?! Pah! 😅🤣
Well I have 4 soon to be 9. Sorry 13.
And that's if you don't count the books I'm rereading that are up to 45 years old.
And also if you don't count the 8 I'm waiting for from the library.
Oh and there's a few self help books I haven't got round to reading.
So all in all me personally I'm doing bloody amazing compared to previous years! 😁🙄😏🤞🤐

I have read The Correspondent and have a copy of Art Cure waiting to read. But I’ve read the synopsis of The Best Hotel in Kabul and fancy it

Oh yes and bonus points if she already has a nasty horrible partner and he gets dumped for the taciturn but gorgeous gardener with a heart of gold. After they uncover some nefarious plot he has to steal all the money from the estate.

And it’s always called something like ‘The Wildflowers of Winterton Hall’

I have a tbr shelf (okay, shelves…). It’s not in order. So when I choose my next book I stand there and stare and eventually decided 😅

You could have warned me The Count of Monte Cristo was nearly 1300 pages!😩
Oh well, think positive. I might race through it like I do the J K Rowling's...🤞
