The Andrea bloke has got me. My brain is holding so many characters now . I think he's Benedetto but have forgotten his story. Possibly his mum was shot through the throat and B was a delinquent child?

i really liked blood over bright haven but the friend who recommended it to me claimed it was a fantasy romance rather than a tragic commentary on class structure, so the tone of it was unexpected

Just 3 reads in June for me which is below average but 2 were fabulous reads so quality over quantity!
Dear Miss Lake by A J Pearce - book 4 (I think!) in the series and probably a book too far for me. I really enjoyed the first couple but this felt very predictable. Not one I’ll remember.
East of Eden by John Steinbeck - don’t think we need to say anything else about EofE here do we?! Epic, beautiful and as good as I remembered.
The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai - one the wouldn’t have picked up if it wasn’t for recommendations here so thanks to whoever mentioned it. A real heartbreaker, I was so hopeful Yale would get a happy ending but should have known that was never going to happen.

My June! Thank you to whoever mentioned Kin - I loved it! Also read How High We Go in the Dark, The Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, and Appointment with Death from our list and enjoyed them all.
My June, a good month apart from Revenge Wears Prada. It’s saying something when you rate Morning Glory Milking Farm as better.
Ohh looks like it's a retelling (or similar) of the legend of Tristan & Isolde? Very interested. I like the cover design too. On to the wishlist it goes.

Mixed month. However, I think July will be better as powering through Heart the Lover and my recent birthday has meant more new books!

June was one of those months where I've ended up with a fair few books on the go at once.
I did finish Dolly All the Time, @daisynoon what were your thoughts? I do like that often her main characters are in their 30s but having read a few of Annabelle Monaghan's books now I don't know that I'll rush to read her next. I enjoy them but don't love them, if that makes sense!

Exactly the same, actually! The ones I've read have had a similar feel to them, and the romantic interest was working for me right up until the ball and then I wasn't convinced by the resolution. I did like the reunion with the sister.
It's a shame because I love a good summer romance, but this didn't quite hit the mark.
i feel like i’ve talked about it here so much but kavalier & clay will always be one of my favourite books of all time. i adore it and am so glad you liked it too 🥲

A few reviews
Yesteryear was a decent read but not the mind blowing book I thought it would be. Maybe because I listened on audiobook where I'm sometimes guilty of zoning out but it didn't grip me. I sorta guessed the twist because there were only a few ways it could be going, but a solid book
My Neighbour's Affair was never going to be amazing but it could have been SO much better if every single character wasn't having an affair. Absolute nonsense
the underlying plot wasn't bad but the author used infidelity to drive every single plot point.- Status
