Has anyone here read Water Moon? I’m reading it for a book club and it’s pretty dull
Yes, I felt the same, it was a slog. I liked the idea behind it and bits if it were beautifully descriptive but I just didn't care about the characters and found it really quite confusing!

It’s on my kindle and I haven’t even bothered opening it! Might open it over the bank holiday if it’s a DNF type one 😂

I’m reading the new ish Sophie Hannah book - no one would do what the Lamberts have done - I’m really struggling to get into it! I really like her, however I noticed some of her newer stuff was less enjoyable to me, has anyone read this one? Sorry if this has been mentioned!
Edited to correct the book title
Oh thank goodness, I've just read it and I absolutely did not get the point of it at all. All the characters were frankly annoying, and what was the so clever plot twist??

i don’t blame you! they had the same conversation over and over and over and she was ANNOYING AS HELL. i also couldn’t keep track of any of the supporting characters as they all seemed to basically be the same person 🤣

It was also way to spicy, which honestly i don't mind if the rest of it is good but this definitely was not 😅 wish i could get a time wasted refund 🤣

Oh dear. I feel even worse as I loaned them to my friend to read them first, she must have been thinking “what on earth?”

Aw i only read like 30% so glad I'm not going further 🤣

It's like when men say reading spicy books is the same as watching porn. Usually i don't agree cause other books i mainly read for the plot and spice is extra. This one though...yeah that's porn 🤣

I just finished 'I'm glad my mom died' by Jennette McCurdy.

It is a memoir about growing up with an abusive and narcissistic mother, who pushes her into becoming an actress.

Despite the heavy subject, I breezed through it in 3 days. The chapters are very short and she writes ina very direct way, it isn't bogged down with overly flowery descriptions of what is happening.

i read the novelised version rather than the play (which i’ve seen and was incredible) and am genuinely shocked by how different someone’s writing can be from stage dialogue to prose. the writing is just really flat and repetitive with some really cringy metaphor choices, and everything that’s powerful on stage just doesn’t work on the page. it sort of comes alive a bit at the midway point but she then cannot sustain it.

Oh that’s very disappointing. It just goes to show the importance of valuing different mediums.
