Read the latest Katie Fforde. A Cottage In The Country. It was about a girl works as a Phil and Kirstie type house searcher who has visions and tries to make them come true, with some associated mayhem. I gobbled it down in a day,
Currently nearing the end of the latest Veronica Henry - The Invitation. I could just see this being made into a film - which I would have to watch alone, so I don't show myself up crying

I would say yesI’m at 28% of The Correspondence. Does it get any better ? No spoilers please
I wasnt sure either at the 25% mark but it does get better and it is a really lovely book

A poster on this thread suggested I went back to re read a book I had really enjoyed, I did help somewhat. Last year I had a terrible reading year, then this year back reading with a vengeance. No idea what clicked or changed, it just did. I sympathise as book doldrums isn’t fun.I haven’t read since January I don’t know why I just can’t seem to start

I love a weird book. Anyone else?? Growing up my dad got me into Kurt Vonnegut, Orwell, Kafka, Stephen King, Catch-22... Classic dad stuff I would guess? Now I love anything a bit magical realist, horror, anything a bit mid century or historical, anything about relationships but with a weird twist.
I love a random library find. But I'm also quite picky and end up having weeks or months off from reading where I can't find anything I like, so always welcome recommendations!

You Dreamed of Empires - Alvaro Enrique
The Talented Mr Ripley, and others by Patricia Highsmith
The Lottery and Other Stories and We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
Death Valley by Melissa Broder (love everything she has written)
The Safekeep
The Pumpkin Eater - Penelope Mortimer
Currently reading Poor Things Alasdair Gray which is AMAZING!

Just finished Jill Mansell's latest - Just One Look At You.
Says it will take readers on a rollercoaster of emotions - you're not kidding!! Luckily no one was around to witness it so I could bawl to my hearts content. Otherwise I know there would have been massive eye rolls.
Another 5 star read.

Despite the bawling I really liked it. Read it in less than a day so I must have.
ETA. I've now moved on to Erica James latest - The Forever Home. Describes itself as an uplifting read, so I might be able to hold off with the bawling on this book

Despite the bawling I really liked it. Read it in less than a day so I must have.

I’m still reading Project Hail Mary. But I collected The Correspondent from the library this week. Just read that Jane Fonda is going to play the lead character in a film adaptation
Any Marlow Murder Club fans, the new series has started on U&Drama tonight. Adapting Queen of Poisons in the first two episodes.

I have been away from tattle. Was on holiday just stopped going on tattle which honestlyhas been great, miss this thread though. Think I'm going to unwatch everything else here and just keep this thread as I love all the great book recommendations!
In the meantime on holiday i read The Housemaid series. Can't say it was amazing but it was good for reading when i don't want to focus on a harder book
Then on the flight back i thought i downloaded books on my kindle but i didn't so had to start something i already had downloaded which turned out to be the first of the Strike books. Glad it finally made me start it I'm only about 25% in but enjoying it!!

I'm only about 25% in but enjoying it!!Just saw on IG Douglas Stuart is doing a really big tour when his new book comes out. All over the UK and Ireland and then off to North America and Europe (Europe dates tbc). In Nashville he’ll be in conversation with Ann Pachett which I think would be very cool! (And Lauren Groff in Gainesville, Florida!)
I remember a lot of tattlers loved his two previous novels. I’m a baby and haven’t read them yet because I’m worried I’ll just cry all the way through. But I think I want to read this new one!

looking forward to this - i’ve loved his other two books and i’m interested that this one seems to be such a change of setting for him.

Just finished ‘and now, back to you’ by BK Borison. It took me nine days to read it, I don’t know what’s happened! I used to get through a half decent book in 3-4 days but I’m really struggling lately!
