I would definitely recommend the Kathy Burke audio book as she reads it!

Yeah they’re definitely popular in translated fiction!
I imagine they all have a similar plot, someone lost in life who learns a valuable lesson - but they are twee cosy books!
It's taking me a while to get through Kathy Burke's A Mind Of My Own as I keep Googling actors she's talking about.
She doesn't name the bad 'uns, so when I got to this bit I was surprised that she'd named someone.
Then after looking the "charmless wick" up I realised she was in one of my favourite Ray Winstone movies (fan and Elvis)!

Have finished Kathy Burke's autobiography and I'm giving it 5 stars.

I got an Ashley Poston book I’d not read and book 4 of 4 of Lovelight farms from BK Borison, despite me having only read book 1 so far! It’s the sort of thing that happens quite often with the kindle deals, then they seem to trickle out the earlier books over the next couple of months.
I started reading writers and lovers last night, I only got 10% through though before I was starting to fall asleep!
I think after this I’ll go for the two Elsie Silvers books I have in my library. I don’t like her other stuff though to finish the series at full price but it’s also a pretty easy read.
I’ve just finished The Outsider by Albert Camus. Very sparse and stark, really felt the isolation the main character feels when acknowledging he doesn’t fit in. Good book.
My January wrap up. All except for the John Marrs books and Women with ADHD were audiobooks.
Favourite was semi-well-adjusted and the full cast version of Prisoner of Azkaban. Most disappointing with The Life Impossible - I just didn’t get it!
I’m sure some would say the advent calendar escape room book doesn’t count but a book is a book in my eyes!
Currently reading Night Swimmers and really loving it. The kind of book you miss the characters when you finish.
I remember loving that, just checked and I gave it 5 stars.
I didn’t realise there was a new BBC adaptation of Lord of the Flies, never mind that it starts on Sunday. I’m not a massive fan of the book but the trailer looks good so will give it a go.
(Side note - The Simpsons take on LOTF when the school bus crashes on the way to a model UN event is hands down the best adaptation to date!)

Can anyone recommend an Irish book with a similar vibe to the Derry Girls families. I’ve read all The Walsh Sisters and The Mammy. The Irish humour gets me chuckling

Has anyone had any experience of selling books to World of Books or similar recently? I've got two huge bookcases of books and I've only got intentions of re-reading about a sixth of them, and only a few special editions that I'd keep just for keeping. I love books and constantly reading more and more, but OH is going insane about our lack of space on the bookshelves recently and I think I'd like to sell some rather than stress over where I can put them. I don't really want to go down the vinted or depop route as I hate the whole "would you do this for 5p please babe xx" exchanges 
Our local charity shop also has a sign up saying no more books so I can't really donate them easily at the moment, and most of them wouldn't be appropriate to offer to a school or youth club etc.

I can't find the post where I asked for detective novel recommendations. I picked one series at random, DCI Jack Logan. I have blitzed through the first four and have really enjoyed them. I can't find who recommended him - but thank you. They are right up my street.

I finished Bless the Daughter byn Warsan Shire which is a collection of poems about mothers and daughters, migration and coming of age. It was very raw and profound - an excellent collection.
I'm now reading Ordinary Time by by Cathy Rentzenbrink. It's very Claire Chambers like, one of my favourite authors!
