I'm reading Hercule Poirot's Christmas - I do love a good Christmassy mystery this time of year.
I picked up a copy of this at a book swap the other week and am going to start it tonight!

I just finished Good Spirits by B.K. Borison this morning, it was alright but a bit strange. I'm not sure I'd rush to read the sequel.

Boss has given me an Amazon gift card for Xmas. It doesn't count as buying new books if it's not your money, right? Right?

Gift cards make me more likely to splurge. I want to read atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid but it’s 10.99 on kindle and I absolutely refuse to pay that much for it. But with a gift card I’d buy it in a heartbeat

I’m usually the same in refusing to pay more than 99p, but this year I’ve held off buying 99p deals just for the sake of it and instead let myself splurge on a pricy book or two off my wish list. Atmosphere was one I went for. Definitely the most I’ve ever spent on a Kindle books but I love TJR and it didn’t disappoint!

The French Chateau Dream book I've been reading is really making me hungry. There's so much about food in it, and the making of it that I went to the back of the book expecting to find some recipes, like you do in some chick-lit romance books.
Some of the romance is a bit 😳. Not your usual fare. The heroine being at her very worst health wise as the hero is falling in love with her. (Not 🤮 or 💩 in case you're worrying, but other bodily fluids).😪 I felt for the heroine.
This book will get at least 4 stars, as it's Christmas. I won't punish the author for the lack of recipes for the scrumptious sounding food. 😋

I know as soon as I buy it, it’ll be discounted immediately afterwards!
I’m currently on my third(!) reread of Good Spirits, I can’t understand why this book has me in such a chokehold, but I feel like I need to read something bang average afterwards because I’m likely to under appreciate anything excellent. Can’t believe I’ve just committed that to writing 🫠

This bookish joke was in my christmas cracker:

A book just fell on my head…

I’ve only got my shelf to blame

Me! I really liked it, got it from the library and zipped through it. I hope you enjoy it! There's a lot in there for a bookclub to discuss, a great choice.

My bookshelves are saying the following to me "No more books until you have unhaul some" and I know it will be hard but I'm determined to stick to my word.
If I was brave enough I'd say "large chance!" to my bookcase, but it might then fall over on me 😲.
Tonight I purchased a new storage container (reinforced) for "The Beast" (the Christmas tree). I can be kind to my possessions by treating them despite the abuse I get from them. I wasn't looking forward to putting the tree away, as it usually attacks me in the process.
The only way to treat the bookcases is to take some weight off them. All I can say for next year is "I'll try!"
