I sometimes find it really difficult to settle on a book (like right now, I'm about to abandon Good Spirits because I'm a third in and I don't think it's working for me 😬), so I like to have a lot of choice. I'm definitely all about comfort reads at the moment.
It takes a LOT for me to give up on a book even though I’ve read some right old rit this year. I can only remember one book I’ve not finished!
I’m not sure where exactly good spirits got me hooked, but it absolutely did.

I'm not opposed to dnf-ing, but I think my status with Good Spirits is that I'm setting it aside for another time, because it could just be that I wasn't in the mood. I read First Time Caller recently so it was probably too soon for me to dive into another Borison!

The bit I got to is where Harriet suggests they might be connected to help him rather than her, and Nolan is a complete jerk.

I’m at 86/75… a month or so ago I had a brief period of ‘maybe I can get to 100’ ambition but that’s waned and now I’ll be happy to improve on last years number (87).
Like @SaintLeo I set a page goal to encourage me to pick up longer books (looking at you Goldfinch, Strike series, end of Throne of Glass) and still have 2,500 pages to go 🫠

oh it is Not Very Good 🤣 it just made me laugh that she was so careful with the trademark and never refers to it as f1 once and then BAM fernando is there!

if you want an f1 romance i would recommend both of simone solanti’s books; i really enjoyed them and she genuinely likes the sport. and the second one is basically george russell fanfiction if you’re into that which i am.
Thanks for the recommendation. I read the Dirty Air series a while back and a light easy read is what I am looking for.

Chapter nine (not a nerd, I just checked). I understand this actually….. STUFF happens in the next few chapters that change the game a bit in terms of the story.

I was so bereft after finishing the second time that I bought a thousand boy kisses coz tiktok kept telling me it was great (I thought it was terrible) and then lovelight farms because people on goodreads said that was better than good spirits (I respectfully disagree)

That's good to know, thank you! I'll give myself a week off and then give it another try

How is everyone's Goodread's challenges going? My goal was 52 and I am currently 23% through book 48. It is The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig and I am really enjoying it so far. I'm hopeful I can read 4 more books before the end of the year to reach my 52.
I didn't set myself any reading targets this year but I have read 100 books which I am very pleased with.

I've read 56 out of n/a. Proud of myself as that's a decent number for someone who just read with no particular aim and mostly that I consistently read each month!

I’m on 62/52 with 63, 64, 65 and 66 on the go at the moment - two advent books, my evening book and an audio book while I’m working. I’m hopeful I may make it to 70 overall.

I wish I’d kept track of DNFs! There would be a ton this year.
I went through a bad run (most influenced by sm posts knowing full well not my thing 🤦🏻‍♀️) & some I read 100+ pages before ditching. I give myself a gold star for perseverance 😅 I record what I’m reading on Fable so it keeps track for me!

I’ve passed mine, but I only set a goal of 25.. currently on 29 and reading book 30. I read 35 last year on mat leave so didn’t want to be too ambitious this year on my return to work.

I set a goal of 125 (initially 100 but I increased it a few months ago). I am on 116, so I need to read 9 more. I have a couple of Christmas murder novellas on the go so that will be 2, and I've got a couple of audiobooks on the go (yes I know 🙈). For the others I think I will try to read some that are less than 300 pages. Agatha Christie is usually good for that, and I have a few on my shelf. Hopefully I will do it, but if it gets to NYE just know I will flick the target down 😅

About half of my reads have been audiobooks. I like to listen to a couple of hours a day while working or walking.

I have not kept track of books but know I have fallen far short of the rough goal of 52 books/one a week that I have in my head. I have had some good reads this year though. It's just been a slow year.

I’m on book 70 of 80. I definitely won’t hit my target. Was annoyed at first, But I don’t have as much time as I did last year with my job etc. I’ve been in a few reading slumps this year aswell. I used read romance all the time with an odd thriller thrown in. But now it’s the other way around!

I have read 111/50. I always set my challenge at 50 and don’t change it! I’ve got 4 advent books on the go so they’ll definitely be finished by the end of the year too.

@Kerrie86 on my kindle I have different collections (thriller, fantasy and some author’s names) when I get a new book I put it in my ‘to read’ collection and when I finish it I move it to one of the other collections.

I’ve started the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness - I bought the trilogy on my kindle as 3 books in one for 99p. Sounded great until I’ve started reading it. Because it’s 3 books combined the kindle counts it as one big 2500 page book. I read 150 pages yesterday but that’s only 6% and my kindle reliably informs me I’ve got almost 39 hours left 🙈

Ooh, can anyone help with any idea for my Book Club? We’re supposed to be finding books that relate to Winter or Light Festivals. Anyone got any good ones they could recommend?
