I have read 111/50. I always set my challenge at 50 and don’t change it! I’ve got 4 advent books on the go so they’ll definitely be finished by the end of the year too.

@Kerrie86 on my kindle I have different collections (thriller, fantasy and some author’s names) when I get a new book I put it in my ‘to read’ collection and when I finish it I move it to one of the other collections.


I’ve started the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness - I bought the trilogy on my kindle as 3 books in one for 99p. Sounded great until I’ve started reading it. Because it’s 3 books combined the kindle counts it as one big 2500 page book. I read 150 pages yesterday but that’s only 6% and my kindle reliably informs me I’ve got almost 39 hours left

I do the same as you - I set my target at an achievable amount for me (75 books), and don't change it once I pass it. I like the confetti when I look at my reading challenge page.

(I set my StoryGraph page count at 70k and have just achieved that, and I think I'll leave it there)

little women (especially the first half!)
small things like these - claire keegan
beartown (for endless bleak cold)

How is everyone's Goodread's challenges going? My goal was 52 and I am currently 23% through book 48. It is The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig and I am really enjoying it so far. I'm hopeful I can read 4 more books before the end of the year to reach my 52.

My goal this year was one book per month, figured I'd start slow as I was only getting back into reading. I had 4 that I didn't finish and I've finished 12 so am currently reading book number 17! Really proud of myself

Murder on the Orient Express features snow? Can’t go past a Christie!

Or Kate Atikinson’s Life After Life? Which I think of as being quite a book club sort of book. Though it only starts in the winter so isn’t winter themed all the way through.

I'm on 25/40 and will probably get one or two more in. Less than the last couple years but whatever, at least I'm still reading regularly, just not as much or fast. I wonder how my number of pages will compare to last year though as i feel I've read a few longer books, but don't think goodreads shows that before the end of the year.

I’m the same! Always 100! And when I reached I was like cracking!
I actually once watched a video about a girl who set her target to one which was very good on YouTube!

Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher is my favourite and I re-read it every year between the years .

Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah? In true Hannah style it's full of misery but its actually one of my favourite books of hers.

Now at 273 books. Perks of being bed bound I guess. Little holidays in my head.

I'm currently on 50/52 (reading no. 50). I did 67/52 last year so a bit disappointed I haven't improved on that, but I have had a busy year at both home and work.

I did 20,000 pages last year but I'm on about 17,000 so far so I've improved my avg. pages per book, at least.

Can I say that as lovely as it is to have a reading goal….please don’t be hard on yourself if you’ve not met it. It’s all a bit of fun and life has a habit of getting in the way of our books! And if you’ve read one book this year it’s more than a lot of people!

Has anyone read Girl A? I gave up halfway through and am struggling to get back into it and don't know if I can be bothered.

My goal was 40 as i knew with work and kids it would be harder to read but managed 33 reads,probably would have read more but went through a massive reading slump mid year and didnt read for 2-3 months.

43/30 so far which I'm quite pleased with as I can be a really inconsistent reader, it's all or nothing for me. I started the year with a period of illness and reading really got me through, I read a lot in that time and hoped that I could sustain it throughout the year but I had some long spells of not reading. I'd like to get to 50 by the end of the year but I also don't want to put pressure on myself as I know it will then just feel like a chore just to achieve an arbitrary figure!

I tend to be a fast reader anyway, and I generally only go for loans when I'm ready to read, but sometimes it would certainly help those hefty audiobook loans!

I also did my first ever kindle declutter, I might do more as I have a ton of popular romantasy and I'm realising that ACOTAR was kind of a one-off for me and I don't really enjoy the genre. I need to work on my FOMO for books everyone is reading.

Book FOMO is definitely a thing! I had Author FOMO this year - I bought Katabasis because I thought I should probably give R.F Kuang a go give how popular Babel and Yellowface and The Poppy War are and I liked the premise of this new one the most. But have I finished it? Nope. Will I ever? Who knows!

I really need to work on my fomo! Continually want to prioritise the books I really want to read then get distracted by fomo (and repeat).

I think I should make 26 in 2026 my focus over eg. Alphabet challenge, reading Women’s Prize Long/Shortlist. This year I wrote a vague list, next year I’m tempted to gather them as a visual reminder!
