Yup. I am finding it hard, a bit frilly and wordy for me. It's not my usual genre at all so it might be that this is how these books are.Guys the Christmas advent book "A Heart for Christmas" is terrible, right? I'm not just being a Scrooge?

Yeah it’s not great.Guys the Christmas advent book "A Heart for Christmas" is terrible, right? I'm not just being a Scrooge?
Also, do we need to keep mentioning that April had a heart transplant/is immunosuppressed/needs to take care/can't over exert/needs to take care/watch what she eats/has had a transplant/shouldn't be around lots of people/has had a transplant every second line.
Sorry, what medical procedure did April have?
I didn’t want to be too negative when everyone was getting it.. I had it in my Amazon basket until I looked at the reviews - can’t remember the last time I saw something so low rated on Goodreads.Guys the Christmas advent book "A Heart for Christmas" is terrible, right? Im reading it but finding it very basic, not very well written and probably totally predictable! Its one of those books when I heave a little sigh of relief when im done for the day!Guys the Christmas advent book "A Heart for Christmas" is terrible, right? I'm not just being a Scrooge?
is it wrong that this makes me want to read it?I didn’t want to be too negative when everyone was getting it.. I had it in my Amazon basket until I looked at the reviews - can’t remember the last time I saw something so low rated on Goodreads.
Is it translated? The authors profile is in French and a lot of reviews are in Spanish.. I was going to say maybe it’s not been translated well but seems low rated in all languages.
I don’t mind it for what it is either. I enjoy slicing open my chapters each dayI don’t mind A Heart for Christmas. For me it’s exactly what I thought it was going to be. Love interest appeared yesterday and potential love triangle or friend’s love interest appeared today but oh no! he’s not single! But let’s be honest - he will be soon!
I’m sure it’ll end exactly as expected and it’s nice to not really have to think.
I’m enjoying Xmas Break - it’s got 25 chapters but each chapter isn’t a new day. Got all the hallmarks of something terrible/creepy/predictable about to happen.
Everyone This Christmas Has a Secret is the usual Benjamin Stevenson amusing what the fuckery and I like the puzzles in Murder by Christmas.
So that’s 4 advent books, plus I’m still reading Sense and Sensibility when my brain is up for it. I’m listening to Regretting You and reading What You are Looking for is in the Library on my kindle after the advent books are finished for the day. My brain is just about coping!
At the moment I’m also reading Lessons in Chemistry so the advent is just an additional chapter each night. It’s not well written and likely predictable but it’s a nice little Xmas touch to each day for me I guess!Thank you everyone for verifying that I am not just a hater
Like I had seen the low reviews and my expectations were low, like someone said, Hallmark Christmas movie but in writing, but it has managed to go below that... I'll stick to it cause I'm a stickler but yikes.
I have Good Spirits as well, hoping it will hit the Christmas vibes and be significantly less cringe and less crappily written than A Heart for Christmas.
Oh yeah I have various books I'm reading, including Universality which is literary fiction, the Virginia Giuffre memoir, and a muuuuuch better holiday romance (The 8 Heartbreaks of Hanukkah). So the advent book is like a small percentage of my daily reading but I'm still miffed. At the moment I’m also reading Lessons in Chemistry so the advent is just an additional chapter each night. If you are looking for a good Christmas book to read @QueenBW I would personally recommend Bella's Christmas Bake Off by Sue Watson as I really enjoyed it last year and I have just started to read it again and I'm enjoying it just as much. What I loved about the book is that it was full of drama and I also liked how the author made it feel as if you were part of the staff working at Bella's TV show and I just loved how everything wasn't at it seemed either.Thank you everyone for verifying that I am not just a hater

This blows my tiny “one book at a time” mind! I’m always full of admiration when I see people reading multiple books at a time but I think this is the most impressive total so far.So that’s 4 advent books, plus I’m still reading Sense and Sensibility when my brain is up for it.
