Just got this from the library. Interesting. I wish they had samples of similar material inside this book. A touch-and-feel book for grown ups lol one disappointment is there is not a single photo of the actual diary.

the disappointment i felt as a child when he turned from this beautiful specimen into the stuff of absolute nightmares (a blonde man) is still very raw.
This literally made me laugh out loud in the office lunch room and had my colleagues asking why I was laughing. How do you explain that?! 😂

Has anyone read Night Swimmers by Roisin Maguire? I thought it was a lovely book, really well written. I think anyone who loves Irish fiction may love it too

I'm reading Frederica (on a Georgette Heyer spree atm), the handsome hero is named Vernon and all I can picture is this 😭

Not reading at the moment but I moved to a different town and am so looking forward to getting my library card at the local library :geek: Think my first book from them will be Jennette McCurdy's book, "I'm Glad My Mom Died".

I stopped reading the Red Queen series after "Glass Sword" and debating whether I should pick it back up.

This made me laugh, I don’t even read fantasy and I know this is the reason why 😂

I have this. I bought it after listening to a podcast recommending it. I've yet to read it though!
Finished Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld today. Another 5* read. I'm on a roll this year so far. Next pick is Blue Sisters. 🤞

My ultimate hot take is that I think human beast is one of the hottest Disney princes. I love a blond man. Human beast is pure Tamlin vibes.

Has anyone here read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine? I wasn't sure whether I liked it or not... I found her quite unlikeable (even though of course there was a lot of trauma and reasons for her being the way she was) and the ending was a bit vague Was the implication that she and Ray were going to end up in a relationship or was it meant to be platonic? I rated it 3/5 so not bad but I didn't find it the masterpiece that I'd been led to believe...

I found this book very irritating. Her characterisation is all over the place - she's supposedly intelligent, goes to work every day, listens to the news, does crosswords etc and yet has never heard of McDonalds? Like, she's unwell and possibly neurodivergent, she's not an alien.

Yes completely! I get that it was probably meant to be a bit of arrested development with her trauma from when she was 10 but I found her characterisation so jarring that it took me out of the story if that makes sense?

I've just finished My Year of Rest and Relaxation and god 0 stars, what an awful book 😂😂 Trying way too hard to be edgy sad girl humour and it just left a sour taste in my mouth.
Personal preference and all, I'm just shocked it was talked up so much by people online.
And ending with her 'friend' dying in 9/11 was a wtf moment
