I keep seeing it get rave reviews so I bit the bullet when I saw it.

I'm speeding through The Women by Kristin Hannah, heavy but brilliant. If her other books are way more tragic, as mentioned in this thread, I don't think I'll read more of hers - this has been a tough one.
i don’t know whether to thank you or cry in your face for recommending this MY GOD. i read it in about two days, would never have picked it up otherwise and what a gorgeous heartwrecker of a book. i can’t believe it’s a debut novel, can’t wait to see what she does next.
I even checked to see if I’d missed the start of a new thread because things were so quiet!
I’m currently battling through Someone Else’s Shoes by Jojo Moyes, which is so far a surprise let down. I normally love her books so picked it off my TBR as something I thought would be good fun after the depression of The Great Alone, but the plot is just so stupid and unfeasible I’m struggling to find the motivation to pick it up. I’m over 60% in though so too far to DNF!
I finished In The Unlikely Event (free from Prime) in the early hours of this morning and was pleasantly surprised by it. Good storyline, although sometimes infuriating, with a small twist at the end that tugged my heart. For those of you that like smut, the sex scenes were hot.
I am reading the The Sirens by Emilia Hart at the moment, I am finding it really hard to love after Weyward was so good.
I'm struggling through The God of the Woods. I don't care about any of the characters and the two mysteries also leave me pretty nonplussed. I'm about 30% in and don't want to DNF because it got such rave reviews but I just don't get them right now. It makes me feel crazy or dumb 
I'm currently reading Last Summer in the City by Gianfranco Calligarich. It's good but I'm finding that I'm not in a rush to keep picking it up - and it's only a short story! This may be because I just finished Never Let Me Go which I loved.
Currently struggling through an arc of the Passengers on the Hankyu Line - not because of the book itself but theway its been coded.. its such an odd layout with often only 1 or 2 words on a line and numbers before and after every sentence. I feel like saying I can't review it because I can't get into the flow of the actual book itself.
Also reading Moderation by Elaine Castillo which also contains some numbering butseems to be easier to follow. But a little too close to We Had to remove This Post for my liking so far.

I do not get all the love for Never Let Me Go. It;s not a bad book but does it not give you the ending in the central premise.. basically they are just like used so its inevitable..at no point did i ever feel it was going to have any sort of happy ending that wasn't given to us halfway in the book. if that twist so to speak had come at the end after we have got to know and care about the characters.. then yes..
I completely understand that regarding the plot (or lack thereof), I just loved the characters and the relationships. Big fan of Ishiguro in general!
Best book I've ever read. It's more what he doesn't say than what he does say.
My chances of continuing to resist buying this are now zero.
LOVE John Green, the Anthropocene Reviewed was one of my favorite books of the past like decade. I haven't read the TB book yet.

Currently trying to get through Lord of the Rings to see what all the fuss is about. I can see why people like it but I am plodding along. I am determined to finish the trilogy so I can finish the story. I don't think I will bother with all the additional works, though.
pro tip from someone who reads it a lot... skip the battles.. thats where it loses me the lengthy battle scenes.. just get the gist from the results..
I’m on a mission to read through the GC and WT series of Karin Slaughters. Currently on GC #2 - Kisscut. I’ve found sticking with a series works much better for me than coming back to them, so I’m trying not to leave as long between the books atm
Indeed! If I see a song/poem I skipses (read that in Gollum's voice and manner of speaking
), because my brain just goes 'nope!' when it sees verses! 
. I like the overall story but some of the chapters are long 
I think I have been spoiled by modern romances and mysteries where the chapters are about 8 pages only. 2/3 books done, and I read The Hobbit earlier this year.- Status
