Somehow this month I read two contemporary romances with very similar premises - Sunshine FMC falls in love with grumpy (but of course misunderstood!) MMC in a prestigious MFA writing programme. The authors even have the same first name and both FMC enjoy Taylor Swift, because of course they do 😅

You Between the Lines - Katie Naymon & Not in My Book - Katie Holt

I don't know exactly how or why I did this. It's a mystery. Both were only just okay. The bits where the authors included samples of the characters writing made me cringe. I thought Naymon did a better job at capturing the dynamics of an MFC programme, and I preferred her MMC. Holt's had a few errors another edit would have caught too. But neither was very good. Or reached Emily Henry levels of literary rivals to lovers.

No real recommendation here except don't read both! Because that was unnecessary :ROFLMAO:

Kudos to Amazon for making it very easy to avoid supporting them.. only 1 Kindle deal this month...The 2nd in the Kawakaga Food Detectives..

I am annoyed at the Paris Dancer being reduced- shes a nice lady I met at our library the other week and then purchased her title at £2.99! - sounds petty but I am on no income right now

@Carapop what was the Jenny Mustard one like? She keep trying to desperately plug herself as an author but i can't help but be You tuber cynical

you’ve hit of my very niche writing icks here - i hate when there’s a character who is meant to be an amazing author or a poet or something, and an excerpt of “their” writing is included…. and it’s just not very good 🤣

following on from above, i find the quality of stuff in the works a bit rough at the moment too. i used to come out of there with a pile of stuff but now it just seems like the same book in duplicate.

About half an hour ago I ran into a friend when I was coming to work. I said to her “I don’t need any more books right now”. And then I saw this.

I’ve preordered this on hardback AND I want to reduce my kindle books AND I’m supposed to be going through them alphabetically anyway and have passed F already 😒

I really hope to enjoy the duck out of this in hardback though when it arrives in July 😅

I’d never even heard of her so I went in blind and free of prejudice. I remember very little of the book itself tbh, it’s a very middle of the road 3*

March wrap-up

3 from my Kindle list and 3 audio books (the 7th book was a new purchase for book club, not technically counted as reducing kindle library)

I enjoyed them all except Nightbitch. Nightbitch was bizarre and I skim read it.

My aim for April is to hopefully only read from my Kindle library.

I just popped into the works and the 3 for £6 is now 3 for £7.50 😭😭😭😭

I did manage to get 3 books in the charity shop beforehand for £1.50 though

The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas
The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden
Night Road by Kristin Hannah (thrilled with this as I can never find Kristin Hannah in charity shops)
I am currently reading The Wrong Sister, let me know what you think!

The 3 for £6 £7.50 hasn't tempted me in a long while, they never seem to have the right mix of books to make up 3 I want. Guess I'll stick to the charity shop!

Only one book in March. It seemed to take me ages and not sure why. I LOVE Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher but this just didn’t get me in the same way. I did enjoy it, but I just didn’t want to pick it up.

I’ve started Rules of Civility by Amor Towles and already feel much more keen to keep picking the book up. So hoping to hit at least 3! Finally getting my hands on All Fours from the library after waiting months..

This has been on my Kindle TBR for ages so interested to know your final verdict on it. Glad it’s looking good so far!
