I think too we just had so little to do really. I spent an hour a few weeks ago sorting my youngest childs pencils and pens and I had said to someone else. I got so much joy in doing that as a child. My drawing things were my pride and joy but I didnt have consoles and on demand tv and tablets. My kids never sort them. They don't leave them in a mess or anything but theyre not nicely done like I would have done as a childOr a creative child with a deep appreciation for public services

I did the same!!! But I longed for a date stamp and never got one. I made do with making little paper pockets and slips to stick in the front of all my books that I would write dates on. I vividly remember the only tape I could find to stick them in with was brown parcel tape. I think I may even have one of my favourite childhood books upstairs with the home made pocket taped inside

I'm not a massive audiobook person but I managed to listen to Harry Potter books and some MC Beaton's as I'd already read them so knew the story if my mind drifted off
What book/s surprised you good or bad? I.e did something not live up to your expectations or did any surpass any expectations you had for it?
That Festive Feeling by Heidi Swain Laborious read and the theme was dragged out. Really surprised as I generally like Swain's books.
A Christmas Party Georgette Heyer - boring snoozefest.
If you rate books what was your average rating and/or sum up your year of reading.
Probably somewhere in the 4's.

Finished The Life of Zanna tonight which was my Z book and completed this years A-Z challenge.
Next year I'm going to make more of an effort in completing it sooner and by reading books I own on Kindle. 2 birds, 1 stone!

Started listening to The Magic Faraway Tree. It wasn't what I remembered, then I noticed it was by Jacqueline Wilson.

So after my latest Kindle shopping spree I've decided my New Year's resolution is no new books bought or borrowed for Unlimited for three months. As long as I read a couple of Unlimited books per month I'll be getting my money's worth.

I’ve decided I’m going to get Kindle Unlimited for 3 months whilst it’s on offer. I intend to make the most of this and to try and push myself out of my comfort zone which is definitely thriller/crime books. What Kindle Unlimited recommendations do you guys have?

Mead Mishaps, by Kimberley Lemming. They are just silly, fun sort of romance books but verging on bonkers. There are 3 books in the series, easy reads.
The Deal by Elle Kennedy (this was all over tiktok not long ago) it's an ice hockey rum romance book.
Cootonwood Cove series, romance, American small town.
I tend to enjoy quite dark stuff but surprised myself this year by really loving The House in the Cerulean Sea and Funny story so maybe romance and fantasy?!?

There is a series of romance/time travel books beginning with The Passage by Irina Shapiro. I've only read the first one but I quite liked it, even though it's basically an Outlander knock off
The first of Lucinda Riley's Seven Sisters books is also on Unlimited
If you like dark, there's a huge selection of horror on Unlimited - I particularly like Joe Hill's books, especially The Fireman, although that's a long one!
I know you said you wanted to branch out from crime fiction but if you haven't read them I would recommend the DS Walker series by Patricia Wolf. They're set in Australia.

I’ve only read two, and both gardening related books. I’d say The Well-Gardened Mind. Which is so interesting, it’s written by a psychologist / therapist who explores the positive impact that time in the garden has on our wellbeing, mental health, and also things like community, criminal behaviour etc.
What is your favourite audio book of this year?
I don’t listen to audio books. I’m a podcast listener. (If anyone’s interested Miss Me has probably been my favourite podcast this year!)

I really enjoyed the Thursday Murder Club series. I think I knew that I would enjoy them but I’m surprised how much I actually did. Flew through them all.
I was quite surprised at how much I loved Demon Copperhead too. It’s been one of, if not the actual, fave read this year really.
After enjoying The Last Mrs Parrish, I was disappointed at just how utterly rit The Next Mrs Parrish was.
