I love the books! They are detailed and the friendship/working partnership between Strike and Robin is brilliant in the books because you get to see their conversations and thoughts. The side characters and investigations are well fleshed out too. If I could only take one book series on a desert island it would be the Strike series.

In my quest to reach 100,000 pages I am now at 99,851 so I think it will be easy enough. Then I will be satisfied. But next year I will set the pages challenge at maybe 125,000 pages. 🫣

What is your favourite fiction read of this year?
I have two favourites.
This year I truly found Fredrik Backman. After reading his short story, ‘And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer’, last year, which broke me into a thousand pieces. I gave ‘Beartown’ another go and wonder why on earth I didn’t get along it with in my first attempt. Anyhow, he’s forever going to be my #1 author, for his ability to touch my soul and of course his pure literary excellence; he has to be my favourite ever author.
And for pure enjoyment I cannot leave out of my favourites ‘The Aisling Series’. I bloody loved it. I love Aisling, she’s such a ‘dote’. So far, I’ve only read, well listened to, books 1, 2, and 3. But I’ll continue into 2025 and then start them again. I’ve loved them a lot and feel I must live in her world again soon.
What is your favourite non fiction read of this year?
Karma by Boy George and My Amy by Tyler James. When I listened to ‘Karma‘ I wasn’t sure what to make of Boy George’s writing style. But, I grew to love it and often listen to the audio version when I need to feel lost in his world. He’s funny, warm, and from my era. And then, ‘My Amy’ I just loved listening to things about her life from Tyler’s perspective.
What is your favourite audio book of this year?
Geneva by Richard Armitage. I’ve listened to this so many times this year. There’s so much to it and I think it would transfer excellently to the screen.
What book/s surprised you good or bad? I.e did something not live up to your expectations or did any surpass any expectations you had for it?
Geneva was my biggest surprise. I didn’t read it, I listened on audio and I really enjoyed it. So much so that I bought it and have listened to it over and over. It’s very well written and narrated.
If you rate books what was your average rating and/or sum up your year of reading.
I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read / listened to. I’ve not DN any books, I don’t think, which is a sign I’ve enjoyed them because at the start of the year I gave myself permission to DN anything I can’t get in to by 15%. I’ve not rated many except the exceptional ones.
Have you pre-ordered any books for 2025 yet / which books are you most looking forward to being released?
I’ve preordered the two next books in Pam of Babylon. It’s a family drama that caught me by surprise when it was free and now we’re at books 28 & 29 and I can’t not continue with them. A bit like a soap really. But, I’m invested. I can read them in a day or two. They don’t tax me in any way. But they’re definitely not Fredrik Backman.
Do you have a list of books you are aiming to read next year or do you have any reading goals for the year ahead, this doesnt have to be quantity based or anything like that.
I’d like to read some of my kindle first reads and the ever growing kindle books I buy. I would also like to log every audiobook I listen to. I used book tracker to log my reading but don’t log all my audio books, next year I’d like to log and rate every book I read and / or listen to.

While i loved reading a chapter and a day and coming on here to discuss the book - as expected, I'm disappointed

Father’s Day by Richard Madeley. I had no expectations and expected to DNF but I was surprised I got really into the story and read it in a couple of days. It was much darker and grittier than I expected.
If you rate books what was your average rating and/or sum up your year of reading.
I’m stingy with my stars so I would say about 3 stars on average.

I can’t wait for the new Steve Cavanagh as I love his books! Also looking forward to the new Clare Mackintosh book which I’m fortunate enough to have an ARC of.

I need to curb my NetGalley addiction and get the books I have read and reviewed! Never mind all the 99p deals I’ve succumbed to on my kindle and the piles of physical books
I would also like to read some different genres, i love crime thrillers, police procedural books etc and that’s what I mostly read. I also need to read more non fiction.

Merry Christmas my lovely book friends I hope you have all had a lovely day. I didn't get any books but I did buy some yesterday which I am classing as Christmas presents the author is called Joan Jonker and although I have never read any of her books before they do look rather interesting hence the reason as to why I got them. PS Before anyone says anything yes I am still unhauling books as I have currently unhauled 23.
I feel every single word of this. He reaches a part of me with his words that I barely knew existed.

So many questions left unanswered! I guess it was always going to be hard to wrap up in this format. Having said that, the format did make the book what it was and I really enjoyed the read along. I’d definitely do another next year!

Guessing most of you will have read this as the QR code was at the end of the book. I still have unanswered questions 
Also, just throwing it out there but Per Jacobsen's Strung trilogy are on KU if anyone wanted to read further. I think his 'regular' books are better well-received than 25 Days.
I’ve had the first Strung one on and off my kindle for ages. I keep getting on KU, not reading it, returning it for something else and then cycling through again.
Thanks to whoever recommended Happy Bloody Christmas, I started it this evening and already read quite a bit. It’s funny and doesn’t require too much brainpower which is essential after a few wines
