I’ve never read Jilly Cooper books before, is it best to read the series in order?
I haven’t either but I’m going to read them in order. I already had one I’d picked up previously for 99p but I just bought the others as my sister in law was raving about them yesterday so it seemed like a sign to buy books 😂

It does tick off the trying new genres but not so much the reading what I already have and not buying more books…

I’ve spent some time today matching my Goodreads TBR list to my kindle unread books! 🤓

Each month in my planner, I’m going to write down how many books I have on my kindle. The aim is for it to be lower at the end of the year.

If it is, I’ll have accomplished my one reading goal of the year!

Do we know when the goodreads challenge for 2025 opens? I can't see where I can set my goal for 2025. I only started using goodreads New Years Eve 2023 :ROFLMAO:

It is almost two years since I have bought a book myself. I have been given them as gifts/book tokens/passed on to me by others.

I have 5 physical books to read and 31 left on my Kindle. My birthday is in November, so there is no reason reason why I should receive any books before mid-February which is when I estimate I will have been able to clear those 36 books.

The two years shows you how out of control my tbr pile has been, because I can read a 350 page book in two days. Was I have gone through the pile I have wondered why post me thought buying that book was a good idea. I deleted all my Amazon first reads from my Kindle. I have dnf 19 books.

I have a book token burning a hole in my pocket and I am saving it until I am reading my last book.

It feels weird to think there is no longer any towering piles of books with my name on anymore!

Did you download every book on your kindle then delete them after reading? I have so many books bought but they aren’t all downloaded. I’ve no idea how to keep track of them on there.

I went through my content on the website. I clicked on them, deleted first reads without even thinking about it. Looked closely at any 99p purchases and only kept those I genuinely wanted to read. Delivered everything I wanted to read I went from something like 285 books down to 140ish.

I thought this at the beginning of this year. I had 142 Kindle books, read 20, ended up with 167. As you can see, it didn't work 🤣

Edited to add: I just counted through my books, it didn't get better across any platform! Doesn't include those on my Kindle wishlist (or Audible ) which I'd actually be scared to count up!

As you can see, I've added Libby this year too. And I just got 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for 99p so will be reading stuff that isn't included on any of my lists 🙈

1st Jan 😊

But it's one of the USA timezones so have to wait until mid morning UK.

I got The Last Word by Elly Griffiths for Christmas, it seems to be part of a series, does anyone know if I can just read it as a standalone, and also, has anyone here read Elly Griffiths’ books? I have never come across her.

I just deleted 1100+ read/old books from my Kindle content but I still have over 800 on there to read or delete. It went all the way back to 2021-22 eeek!

I foolishly browsed the 99p deals on Kindle today and there's at least half a dozen on there I want 😫

Happy Holidays / Christmas / Festive times book friends 🥰 Hope you all had a lovely few days, even if you dont celebrate.

I received the Playing for Keeps series in physical book format for Christmas and a personalised book embosser. The rest of my holiday will be spent embossing all my books 😂 I admitted to my partner today that when I was a child my mum once bought me a date stamp and I spent hours turning all my books into 'library books' with a little hand made slip inside. The look he gave me 🫠

Now Christmas day has been and gone, I can finally talk about 25 days.

I'm still glad I read on as I actually enjoyed reading what you all thought but knowing what was coming.

but the book annoyed me so much! The whole family surviving outside without getting hypothermia, the dad surviving the fall, them escaping the radio tower, no explanation as to who snowmobile was or why he was doing it.

I like what he tried to do and the different POV of each chapter but so many unrealistic moments, it just ruined it for me and I'm glad I didn't let it increase my average reading time

This is really impressive. Well done! I probably own about 15-20 books that I have not read and don’t have the discipline to read those before getting library books or buying a new book.
