I really hope the question about how he got them all there is answered @ordinaryjelly - makes me wonder if there are two people involved then maybe they’re working together rather than one trying to stop the other? (Shooter and snowmobile)

I also winced at the description of Abby being hurt 😖 and also could’ve cried at her telling Chloe not to stop even if she hears anything that sounds like Abby or their mum… I took from that, if she hears them being hurt, don’t hesitate, still go

Just who is snowmobile guy? He is clearly known to Bill. I can't decide if he is known to the family or not. How would the snowmobile guy know both Bill and the family?

I still don't understand how he got them all there into their 'prisons' when he apparently had only the snowmobile for transport.

Why is so violent towards everyone? Will Chloe manage to get out and find help? What will the repercussions of Chloe's hopeful escape be on Abby?

Honestly each chapter brings me 20 new questions! It might not be the greatest writing but it is such a clever, clever book.
I think the only way the would know the same person is if it was the bloke from the garage. Not that the family really knew him as such but they did have that interaction. Or miss morris the cleaner is involved some how. Maybe both?

I have so much FOMO from seeing all your comments and spoilers. Really wish I'd bought the book sooner so I could join in.

well, that was a grim chapter. Smart thinking from Abby. I hope Chloe ends up running into Adam and they can find help for the others.

That was a horrible chapter. I audibly gasped when he was hurting Abby - I normally love an audible gasp moment but not when it’s because a child is being beaten.
Why is this guy so psychotically cruel? What is his deal? I can’t believe we’re potentially going to get a reveal on Christmas Day - what a way to dampen the festive spirits 😂

Eek it keeps getting darker!
What a chapter! Poor Abby and Chloe, Chloe must feel awful having to leave her sister to try and escape crazy ski mask person. I think Bill definitely knew them but I don’t understand the motive for targeting the family. Is he trying to punish someone? Maybe Beth? I was so tempted to read on today but I’ve restrained myself.

Anyone watched The Ink Black Heart on BBC1 tonight? Seems to have been panned by the critics but in the comments fans of the book have been fighting back.
It's a while since Tattlers recommended the Strike books, so I don't remember a lot about it. Looking back it seems I read this tome in 4 days, and that having read the Strike books I realised the books were better than the TV series, and I was a fan of the TV series.
So I await with trepidation my chance to catch up with this series on BBC iPlayer.

I love, love the Strike novels. Cormoran has a special place in my heart. I haven't watched any of the TV adaptations though. Scared of them ruining my love affair.

I love both the series and the books, but I do feel they don't have enough screentime to convey the books so they do sort of give us an abridged version. I have only seen episode 1 so far and hope to finish the rest later this week. Apparently Jo is almost finished writing Book 8 so I assume we get it mid -late next year 🤞 I do feel that if you only watch the series you miss out on a lot of the side plots and character thoughts.

The books are fantastic in my view, regardless of who wrote them. The most recent book I read with bated breath because I was so concerned about the survival of one of the characters. And it was worth every one of the 960 pages. And it is a series that builds and builds.

I have 2 Strike books I got as presents and the rest I’ve borrowed from the library. I think I need to get all the books in the series for my bookshelf at some point.

I haven’t read the strike books but on series 4 of programme. I LOVE it & I LOVE him! Do him & Robin ever get together?! Are they in love with each other?!

HOW IS ADAM STILL ALIVE? or is he? Is this someone’s dream? Did anyone notice that he said Abby was cuddling her mum or something and not Beth?!

25 Days. It is making me sad when I see we are two thirds of the way through the book. What will I focus on next. I am reading other books alongside it, but my thoughts drift back to Adam, Beth, Abby and Chloe all the time.

I just can't figure out how an these characters link together Miss Morris (the cleaner,) Bill, the family, snowmobile person.

Is the person at the 'prison' the same person who rides the snowmobile, is that person the same person who shot at Adam? Did they pick Adam off because he was the leader of the pack? Is the snowmobile coming for Adam? Will they be furious he survived the gun shot and fall from the ledge?

I've read less books than last year but actually read about 2000 pages more so I'll take that as a win!

I love StoryGraph for its pages read goals/tracking. It’s encouraged me to take on longer books that I used to avoid because they didn’t help with my books total. It’s actually really interesting to see months when my pages read is really high, but books finished are relatively low.

I'm really bad at updating storygraph, just so used to Goodreads. Goodreads at least provide total number of pages in the reading challenge year but yeah would prefer to be able to track the whole time

What a tiny chapter! Blink and you miss it.

This chapter was way too short! Can’t believe Adam is still alive, or is he collapsed somewhere in a coma? 🤷‍♀️
Can’t work out who snowmobile person is and what their motive is. I think they’re known to Bill, maybe a crazy son or daughter or some relative? That doesn’t explain why they would go after the family.
What happened to cause tension between Beth and Adam and made them go to such a rural place in the first place?

Raging my Kindle app isn’t showing that I’ve read anything today and yesterday, any ideas on how to sort it? I’ve synced my kindle and the app but no joy.
