I'm currently reading Ali McNamara's It Always Snows On Mistletoe Square.
I was expecting a typical chick-lit romance, but it's not. I won't spoil it if you've yet to read it, apart from to say it's intriguing and different from what I remember of her other novels.
Here's the blurb from the back of the book:

That looks interesting thanks. I’ve added to my wishlist for later on in the year, I like to read books set at Christmas during winter. Does that make me weird? Also, I keep buying books just now and need to shrink the TBR a little

I’ve just finished The Guncle and oh my gosh it has to be my book of the year. Heartwarming, heartbreaking, funny…it seems hard to get hold of in the UK, I’m not sure if it’s only been published in the US, but I managed to get one on Amazon and I’m so glad I did.
I liked that too. I got it as part of a book club subscription the Samaritans used to have. Unfortunately, they stopped doing it due to cost! 😞

No, I always read a Christmas themed book in December and a Halloween one in October.

Speaking of which, if anyone has any recommendations for autumnal themed books I'd love to hear them, I like to read something atmospheric as the nights start to draw in.

I read pretty much all of Bloodstream by Emily’s Carter yesterday - as a big F1 fan I was so excited about this but it left me quite underwhelmed 😕. I’ve picked up ACOFAS now to see if that’s better for me 😬

If you want a good F1 book to read I would recommend Before You by Kathryn Freeman as I really enjoyed it when I read it last year as I loved the F1 setting, I went through every emotion when the main character was driving in each race as I was rooting for him to win, I got to find out what happens behind the scenes when no race is taking place, I felt like I understood both main characters view points and it was a well written book that kept me wanting to read on to see what was going to happen next.

I always read Wuthering Heights when the nights get longer and find it the perfect autumnal, atmospheric read.

Just finished Carrie Soto is Back and started Anita Shreve’s Body Surfing. I read lots of hers a few years back and discovered a couple unread on my bookshelves.

I always get an urge to read classics in autumn. I think it’s a combination of longer cosier nights like you say, and a throwback to uni days when autumn meant putting away the trashy novels I read in my holidays and picking up the “serious” books that were on the reading lists for that term!

No, the story is nothing like that. It's quite a new book 2023 but the library got it in 2024. Quite engrossing which I like. 😁

Thanks for the recommendation off to see if I can get it from my library 😊 definitely feel like I need something with a bit ‘more’ if that makes sense!

Not technically atmospheric but have you read The Pumpkin Spice Cafe? It’s 99p on Kindle at the moment.

Has anyone read Everyone Here Is Lying? I’m 7 chapters in and feel it’s a bit naff. It has good reviews so should I continue
