Yep, I've definitely learned to be more brutal with books as I think in exactly the same way as you as I say to myself "did I love this book enough in order to reread it again and will I be reading it again in say a couple of years time". If the answer is no then I will either give the book to a charity shop or try to sell it on the table top/car boot that I do with my mum. Like you I do have a lot of bookshelves but at the moment they are all stacked up with books.same! i’ve learnt to be a little more brutal when i do my library inventory and think “did i LOVE this? will i reread it? do i want to own it forever?” if the answer to any of those is no then i donate it. i am lucky to have a lot of bookshelves though!
don’t put pressure on yourself over it all though! if you love the book, then absolutely keep it. bookshelves are the window to someone’s soul and all that![]()
If the book is very good then I will absolutely keep it as I can reread it so many times and never ever get bored of it. I honestly just love reading books.
