TLOATP is one of my top favourites in recent years. I’m terrible for forgetting lots (or most of) the plot of books I’ve read. But most of that book still stays with me 🩵I'm on holiday at the moment and yesterday I started reading The Last One At The Party.. Wow its so good!! I can't put it down and I've nearly finished it already. Think I might go for The Stranding next
cara!!! you know my feelings on kavalier and clay - this sounds absolutely DELIGHTFUL and now i can’t wait to read it (especially with the rwrb comparison too)View attachment 2918888
I loved loved loved this book so very much. I was initially drawn to it because of the similarity to Red, White and Royal Blue, but was quickly swept up in the unique love affair of Patrick and Will. Seeing the author’s dedication at the end to The Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Klay (@LaBlonde !), their inspiration, and one of my all time favourite books, was just the icing on the cake.
What sort of genres are your favourite? Can you all do what you do best and recommend me some books for my upcoming holiday? Long flights, and a five day stay at the beach after an adventure so hoping to get some good reading time in. Especially something that will hold my attention on a 13hr flight please!
Anything! I am truly open to all suggestions. What sort of genres are your favourite?
Some of my favourites / books I have really enjoyedAnything! I am truly open to all suggestions.
The last five books I read are:
-tomorrow x3
- a little life
- I who have never known men
- where the crawdads sing
- she and her cat
My favourite book ever is Adrian Mole. I am happy take suggestions that are very different to the above list, so bonus points if I get a suggestion I love which I may not have thought of reading myself!

Does this mean it’s worth reading is books in order they are published? I want to try JM but your post has made me wonder if I should do this if it adds a little extra.I love how JM drops little easter eggs/links to his other books.
I think it also helps that he doesn't take things too far in terms of dystopia. The marriage act with devices that listen and report back, we already have alexas and phones that listen. The meta verse already exists. I love that there is a little moral undertone to his stories too.

You might like 'The Stranding' by Kate Sawyer. A sort of 'end of the world' type book but it's not really the main thrust of the story, it's really really good. I listened to it on Audible and loved it. I do love that genre, but this was a very 'light' version of the post apocalyptic/dystopian type genre. Would def recommend. I loved I Who Have Never Known Men - The Stranding would be a great complement to it in my opinion.Hi everyone! I usually lurk on this thread and have had some great reads from suggestions on here. I’m currently reading ‘I Who Have Never Known Men’ on kindle but I like to have an audiobook on the go too for when I’m pottering about the house. I’ve just finished listening to ‘The List of Suspicious Things’ and really enjoyed it. Has anyone got any audiobooks recommendations, particularly ones that you’ve enjoyed listening to if that makes sense?!I’ve tried to listen to a Harlen Coben book, can’t remember which one off the top of my head but goodness, the narrator was so monotone and bored, it would have sent me to sleep!! I’m pretty much open to anything genre wise. Thank you in advance!
Great shout - thank you! Yes, I do enjoy dystopia too but I am open to pretty much anything, so a light version sounds great. You might like 'The Stranding' by Kate Sawyer.
