TLOATP is one of my top favourites in recent years. I’m terrible for forgetting lots (or most of) the plot of books I’ve read. But most of that book still stays with me 🩵

I loved loved loved this book so very much. I was initially drawn to it because of the similarity to Red, White and Royal Blue, but was quickly swept up in the unique love affair of Patrick and Will. Seeing the author’s dedication at the end to The Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Klay (@LaBlonde !), their inspiration, and one of my all time favourite books, was just the icing on the cake.

Can you all do what you do best and recommend me some books for my upcoming holiday? Long flights, and a five day stay at the beach after an adventure so hoping to get some good reading time in. Especially something that will hold my attention on a 13hr flight please!

Anything! I am truly open to all suggestions.
The last five books I read are:
-tomorrow x3
- a little life
- I who have never known men
- where the crawdads sing
- she and her cat
My favourite book ever is Adrian Mole. I am happy take suggestions that are very different to the above list, so bonus points if I get a suggestion I love which I may not have thought of reading myself!

I love how JM drops little easter eggs/links to his other books.

I think it also helps that he doesn't take things too far in terms of dystopia. The marriage act with devices that listen and report back, we already have alexas and phones that listen. The meta verse already exists. I love that there is a little moral undertone to his stories too.
Does this mean it’s worth reading is books in order they are published? I want to try JM but your post has made me wonder if I should do this if it adds a little extra.

I've just finished All My Mothers by Joanna Glen, absolutely gorgeous book, so beautifully written. She has such an unusual writing style but I just loved it.

I love recommending books!
I just finished Leonard and Hungry Paul and I don't think many people know about it but it was SO good, I'd highly recommend it!
My other recommendations based on the type of books you seem to read would be:
- The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
- Daisy Jones and the Six
- Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
- Sorrow and Bliss
- Anxious People
- I'm Sorry You Feel That Way
- The Giver of Stars
- Normal People
- A Gentleman in Moscow
- Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop
- What You Are Looking for Is in the Library

Lmk if you want to check the authors of any of them but it's probably obvious!

You probably should but I haven't 🤣 I think the later books (the marriage act and the family experiment) should definitely be read after the passengers and after each other or else they might spoil the story.

There are just a few characters that pop up between the books.

I finished The Idea of You yesterday, by Robinne Lee. I really enjoyed it. It was pretty spicy, and I really liked a lot of the settings.

There was definitely the need to wilfully suspend disbelief though, this stunning 40 year old woman with a teenage daughter who can go gallavanting at the drop of a hat, but it all added to the 'if only...' kind of wishful thinking. I did find the object of her desires somewhat one dimensional, but he was endearing nonetheless and I can see how a certain boyhood charm can woo even us older ladies ;) A lot of art references too which I liked. I would have liked it to have ended differently though.

Hi everyone! I usually lurk on this thread and have had some great reads from suggestions on here. I’m currently reading ‘I Who Have Never Known Men’ on kindle but I like to have an audiobook on the go too for when I’m pottering about the house. I’ve just finished listening to ‘The List of Suspicious Things’ and really enjoyed it. Has anyone got any audiobooks recommendations, particularly ones that you’ve enjoyed listening to if that makes sense?! 🤣 I’ve tried to listen to a Harlen Coben book, can’t remember which one off the top of my head but goodness, the narrator was so monotone and bored, it would have sent me to sleep!! I’m pretty much open to anything genre wise. Thank you in advance!

You might like 'The Stranding' by Kate Sawyer. A sort of 'end of the world' type book but it's not really the main thrust of the story, it's really really good. I listened to it on Audible and loved it. I do love that genre, but this was a very 'light' version of the post apocalyptic/dystopian type genre. Would def recommend. I loved I Who Have Never Known Men - The Stranding would be a great complement to it in my opinion.

Great shout - thank you! Yes, I do enjoy dystopia too but I am open to pretty much anything, so a light version sounds great.

None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell is brilliant on audio.
Depending on what your thing is Prophet Song and Before My Actual Heart Breaks are both very very good too
