I should finish Finale tonight
Gild was the surprise hit this month, Anna O was just bad, far too drawn out and very predictable tbh.

4 novels for me this month and a yoga book.

I was taking part in the 52 book challenge. And in theory I will probably read 52 books this year. But, I was struggling with the themes and so after Weyward I decided I’m reading what I want and got stuck into
Beartown

Weyward 4.25/5
Beartown 5/5
Us Against You 5/5
The Winners 4.5/5

I flew through 'Find Me' - mixed feelings on it. I love the writing (although I think it works less well with some of the dialogue- no-one talks like that in real life!) and wanted to get to the end so it kept me hooked. I'm just not sure Call me by your name needed a sequel... I felt a bit flat when I finished.

And the bits with the main characters both together was surprisingly short, which I wouldn't mind too much were it not for the fact that when they did reunite it didn't quite hit the mark for me

Is anyone else just dying waiting on the book of dust 3? This wait is just slow torture, I Google it every few days hoping for good news, its a crushing disappointment each time 🙄
The first two books are on my TBR, are they good? I loved His Dark Materials so I'm hoping the Book of Dust books are good.

My round up for April only has 6 books as this month I feel like I’ve barely had a second to myself and even when I have I’ve not been able to focus on reading. Ratings this month go from a 2 star (The Church Beneath the Roots) to a 5 star (The Last Mrs Parrish). Also updated my monthly brackets.

I honestly couldn't say which book was my favourite as I rated all of them 5 stars.

Mrs Parrish 0.5?!?! Is that worth a read?

It’s alright - I gave it a 3/5. Probably could have gone to a 3.5 though. It sets some more of the scene of how Amber made her way to the Parrish family and her background. I found some of TLMP to be a little unbelievable and 0.5 has similar themes. But it’s definitely readable and enjoyable but not as good as the main book. It’s only 85 pages so definitely worth giving it a go as a quick read.

I’m looking forward to the sequel now to see how the story continues.

11 for me in April.

Best books and 4.5 stars were The Gilded Cage, the Gradual Disappearance of Jane Ashland and The Alice Network. No DNFs, no 2 stars. Really enjoyed Little Secrets too

Now reading This Family and enjoying it.
I loved The Alice Network, my fave of Kate Quinns I think!

Here’s my April ones as I won’t finish Great Circle today.

Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella was one of my all time favourite books I’ve read a couple of times but it seems it’s 12 years since my last read! One of my goals this year is to re-read some of my all time faves and see if I still feel the same way 10+ years later.

I did wonder if I may have outgrown remember me but nope, still loved it! Quite dated but still classic Kinsella humour. It was my only five star read this month too.

Wild Love was my biggest disappointment but Chestnut Springs set the bar very high.

I only read five books this month. Trying to finish a sixth today but probably won't get to it. The Familiar put me in a massive slump that The Inheritance Games did not solve and then tried Weyward and did nothing for me. And my Funny Story reread couldn't save me because I've been busy.

May Contain Nuts is just so funny. I love John O'Farrells humour, he's so brilliant at satire and this is my favourite of all his books!

I’ve never posted my wrap up for the month but since I’ve read the most amount of books I’ve read in a month since I’ve been tracking (10!) - and I love seeing all of your round ups I thought I’d do mine..

The Maiden ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Soldier, Sailor ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
Life Death and Biscuits ⭐⭐
Fourteen Days ⭐⭐⭐
Reach for the Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Reappearance of Rachel Price ⭐⭐⭐💫
Gentleman in Moscow ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
Ordinary Hunan Failings ⭐⭐⭐💫
Western Lane ⭐⭐⭐
You Are Here ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A couple were almost 5⭐ but I’m trying to be more stingy with my 5s after scanning through my 5s looking for some books to recommend and then changing my ratings down 🫢

Do you stick to one book at a time?

I’m 35% through The Familiar and have just started Funny Story. Having multiple books on the go definitely helps me avoid slumps!
