I thought I was relatively safe using a credit for a recent release
I came here to post this. I bought the hardback months ago and it has been sitting on my to read pile beside my beside table for monthsArghhhhhh I used an audible credit for 'the school for good mothers' about 2 weeks ago.
Its on a 99p deal. Nothing makes me madder. Wonder if I could return it

especially because its so much easier to pick up your kindle than a hardback. I love how hardbacks look but theyre a faff to read. Only positive is the little jacket bookmarks
Yes! I find I get through my Kindle reads a lot quicker. My bag for work is already full of laptop, keys, lunch etc. and chucking a book in there is not always possible.So annoying isnt it

I do enjoy sitting outside in the sun with a hard back or curling up on the sofa with one when it's winter. But they are not easily transportable!
Hi, I havent posted here for a while! But some of my recent reads - How To Kill Your Family, it was ok but the ending was just nooooo. Malibu Rising - surprisingly didn't actually mind it.
Is it a hassle for libraries when you order books? We have a local library, but they don't have the best selection so sometimes I'll order them instead. I've always wondered if this is a standard thing or if it's annoying for the libraries?

My library you used to only be able to order from within the county. But they have just joined a consortium so we have access to the books from around 18 different library areas! So the availability is miles better and more choice.
They have been promoting it so they must want people to order in. Although I imagine it must be a bit annoying for staff
Ive just signed up to borrow box and the selection is v underwhelming.
yes we have borrow box too, i got it mainly for audio books but any semi decent ones are on loan for ages and have a long waiting list.

If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things: difficult to get into and follow due to the writing style and large cast of characters, normally the sort of thing I like but I didn't feel massively moved as I hoped I would.
Layla: gaslighting trashbag of a man presented as a romantic hero. I was so intrigued as to where this was going and it went nowhere good.
Mr Wrong Number: I know the romance novel standard now is for the main female character to be 'feisty' but this one crossed the line into utterly obnoxious spoiled cat.
A Day Like This: a first reads that was actually OK! Not my favourite book ever but perfectly solid story. Good for fans of The Midnight Library.
The Anomaly: loved the premise and what they did with it. Absolutely avoid if you don't like books with a large cast of characters.
The Underground Railroad: strangely disappointing? There's nothing WRONG with the book, it just didn't hit for me and felt overhyped and surface level with regards to its plot and characters.
Little Eve: I love Catriona Ward and she's 3/3 for me now. This is more like Rawblood than Last House on Needless Street.
Murder at Teals Pond: also a first reads I think? I thought this was fiction when I opened it and was disappointed it was non-fiction. An interesting case but for an unsolved murder mystery I found the resolution all quite flat and unconvincing.
Homegoing: LOVED. Also definitely not for those who dislike lots of characters, as it is essentially vignettes of dozens of characters through time rather than one single story. Really made me think.
Beast: the books in the Six Stories series never miss for me, this one is the 4th and not my favourite so far, as always the premise and style is right up my street but the ending fell a bit flat this time.
Please Look After Mom: OK so on reflection this book has some flaws, but was I absolutely bawling throughout? Yes. Does it therefore get all the stars? Yes it does.
I'm on to the Woman in White, I hadn't clicked that it's 700 odd pages long and it feels it 10 percent in. Good lord Wilkie stop rambling and get to the point.

Not that I know of no, there arent any library apps that allow you to read on kindle

Does anyone else’s library charge them to reserve books? I have to pay 50p per book! (Still cheaper than 99p on kindle though so I don’t mind if it’s something I have been after for a while!)
Brilliant analysis of Layla. I cannot even begin to explain how ridiculous the whole concept was for me and I loathed every page that I had the misfortune to read.
i’m loathe to bring her up again but i feel this way with all coho books - all her men are trash but presented as heroes that we should forgive because they have traumatic pasts. still not over it ends with us
@ToxicPony - i LOVE wilkie collins but he does take a while to get to the point. really made the most out of that getting paid by the page thing!
I have to agree Layla was definitely my least favourite CoHo book
Ive read a few of Cohos books and been underwhelmed but recently read Regretting You and it was by far the best. Also both main love interests were not abusive POS.

Yeah I planned on using ipad or phone but its really not my preferred method of reading but figured Id do it for a book I really wanted to read.Yeah I discovered this too- I think if you have a tablet you can read on them but I only have a kindle. It works on kindles in America
