I just mean this in the specific context of fat positivity. There’s a lot of debate within fat positivity though around like what size of person gets to talk about it or be prominent in the movement - ‘small fats’ (which I think usually starts at like size 18? Idk tbh) usually are seen as taking up too much space if they talk a lot about fat positivity and stuff cos on the whole they can shop in high street stores fairly easily, face less medical discrimination etc, than fatter ppl. I’m also around that size and wouldn’t say I’m slim (and also sometimes struggle with high street stores and have faced medical discrimination, but not to the point that I would be barred from adopting or left to die if I had covid at the height of the pandemic, to name some specific issues the fat posi movement protests) but also wouldn’t like make myself the face of the fat positivity movement in the way that Bethany previously has done (and certainly wouldn’t try to make money/build a career off it!). I’m not commenting one way or another about whether I agree with these arguments, just saying it’s the sort of discourse I’ve seen on twitter lolI don't think being a size 14/16 would mean she can't be a fat positive exercise person any more, I am that size and I don't think I'm slim. But in the context of her previous size, maybe![]()
