I can kind of understand her doing a mass delete of old tweets but if it’s just size related stuff then omg lol. She’s been on Twitter for ages and used to be super candid, I doubt she’d be cancelled for problematic tweets but maybe now she’s doing YA she wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything too risqué from the fortnight she was a poly pan queen before promptly getting married to a bloke just in case someone’s mum kicked off?

Just read the synopsis and it basically seems like 'Woman leaves long-term relationship to find herself' which is a bit of a cliche and unoriginal but then it goes on 'How will she find herself you ask? By going on loads of dates and the ultimate goal is to find love'. Ah...

So, a journey of self discovery still deeply entrenched in desirability and relationships. Right.

I think it’s best to be neutral around weight loss so if she’s happy with her body then that’s great/the only important thing but seriously what is she going to do wrt her brand ? Like if she ends up like a size 14/16 or something no way is she going to be able to keep calling herself a fat positivity activist/writing books about fat experiences etc cos she’ll be taking up space in the movement that doesn’t belong to her … so weird to me that she’s not acknowledging it but I guess she’s kind of trapped now.

She'll enter her ~mid size influencer~ era. I bet her next novel will be about a size 14 woman who realises that she's got a lot of privilege compared to her size 28 friend. And because she can only write romances maybe they'll fall in love

Although it’s so good as a debut any writer would get a twinge of envy. But she is salty Alice got a whole ep of the podcast and you could just hear how happy and confident she was and bigged up Bethany’s paperback. Alice got a book quote from Caroline Kepnes of You on Netflix! Bethany got someone who writes cosy Cornish cream tea romance.

I just finished ‘Welcome to your Life. It wasn’t very good. However! I have bought ‘Death of a Bookseller’ and am really looking forward to reading it!

I can’t believe she wrote herself as a character. Nicole is clearly yer gud pal Bert, with romantique ideas and ~sexual NRG. Actually, I can.

So my path IRL intersected with hers around her dating/poly/queer era. I met her for all of 2 minutes in the middle of an ego fest of other people that was like narcissism fighting like rats in a sack and she seemed quite pleasant although my bar was very low at this point.

I kept hearing from my flatmate all Bert’s dating exploits as FM was basically fighting for the same pool on OKC and whatever the club night was. As I read I got the immense ick that many of Nicole’s dates were straight up the dates Bethany had. The Nordic one? Soon as I read it, I was ‘she is not? She is not going to describe his bits in huge size? Oh god. She did.’ The one who likes both Nicole and Serena: he was the Shoreditch chubby chaser the epic fight was about. He was working round the whole group and none of them realised he was a fetishist until the middle of this girl power get together which went East London Real Housewives batshit.

Four of them all thinking he was into them. Maybe more. I left quickly. There was some jewellery making thing happening so sharp objects and handbags at dawn.

That was a really long six month lease with my flatmate. She was more obsessed with it me Bethany than all of us combined.

I also could not believe it’s empowering to objectify men on sexual characteristics but comment on their bodies and its eugenics or something…

Oh yes - that was an interesting tweet. CBHC is very amusing but also a car crash (she’s twice divorced, in the middle of a break-up having, constantly in hospital for something or other begging for attention). But that’s a whole other thread...

I honestly think it's because she wants everyone to know how hard she's pushing herself. Proving that she is the good kind of fat person and not the bad kind of fat person. I know she speaks out against this rhetoric but I definitely think it's some internalised fatphobia at play in proving how much she exercises...

100% this. She used to do exactly the same with her Psycle and Barre classes. I would probably guess 9 times out of 10 if Bethany exercises, she lets the world know so we know she’s a ‘good’ fat person.
